I had lunch today with an old buddy/customer from East Tx. He was on his way to Odessa and I met him in Cisco. He just got on a lease in Rock Springs and wants me to meet him down there next weekend to check it out and kill a few Axis. He got on sight unseen, he was playing cards with the rancher after a bass tournament in east Texas, and was assured there were plenty of exotics on the 1500 acres. I’m going just for the beer drinking, but would like to kill something. It’s a three hour drive, and I’ll probably drag my mule. I’ve hunted a lot west of there, 30 years ago, but have no idea what it’s like now. What do y’all think my odds are of coming home with some meat?

Axis kinda wander around, here one day, gone the next. There are plenty in Edwards county though.

Good luck!

Odds of killing something likely in proportion to the amount of beer drank. if North or East of Rock Springs you'll probably see plenty. cheers

I think the odds will be pretty good. My coonass buddy wants to spotlight if we don’t kill some meat during the day. I’m down with that.

There has been some Anthrax out there this year. I have heard rumors of it being bad on a ranch north of Rocksprings. Might want to check into it a bit more just in case.

I love that area. Good chance of killing at least a hog I would bet. Go have fun.
