Can't recall having a mature doe preggers this late in the summer. My guess on date of conception is February 10, 2019. Not that any of us can guess the exact date.

Got a pretty buck to share, too.

Many Thanks!

I always wanna say gestation is 209 days but may be 200ish.

We generally see new fawns in June-July. But have seen newborns in September-October a few times.
Good looking buck up

Had to think about my math and you're right freerange. She was probably bred in early January. Typically, most of our mature does are bred before then.

Possible that she bred early, aborted for some reason and bred back late. I've seen it happen in livestock, we end up with a lamb/kid that's 3-4 months off of his peers.

I am going to say mid to late Jan. on breeding date depending on the date of the photos. When I was shooting does in early to mid Jan and into Feb in La Salle county I always checked for lactation and if they were bred. IIRC less than half of the does killed in mid January were bred. By early Feb almost every doe I checked was bred. Your rut should start after Christmas to around New Years.

Photos were taken 2 days ago. Interesting late winter observations on breeding, stx. Thanks.

comes back to the conversation of multiple ruts or estrous cycles ... and some of last years early doe fawns might not hit their first estrous cycle until late their first year. with approximately 201 days gestation for whitetail does, having late fawns out into Sept. is not unheard of around central Texas. Also, depending on deer density and buck/doe ratio, it could be one of the later estrous cycles before a doe is bred.
