I always apply for a few. Do they ever list how many entries each category has? I assume it’s in the thousands.

If it was available last year they have success and number of entries from last year listed in the information. Some of the numbers I saw were over 6,000 entries.

The first time they did the Big Time Mule Deer hunt they had over 11,000 entries at $9 a pop.

The spouse's family place is one of the whitetail bonanza hunting ranches.
I find it interesting lots of the hunts are won by folks who buy only one or just a few chances.

That's good to hear, I only buy one chance for each of the hunts smile

That's just like the story about the guy from California who caught a tagged redfish this past week. He just happened to enter the Star Tournament knowing he was going to fishing while in South Padre with family and BOOM new truck and trailer. Then there was another guy who caught a tagged red, he didn't enter in the tournament this year.

Few years back...Friend of mine bought an entry and told his sister to get an entry, since they were going on the family trip together....and she said, that's a waste of money...."no way I'll ever catch a tagged one". Long story, short....She has a mount of the fish she caught with the tag in it, at her house that her brother had made for her Christmas present. And an empty spot in her driveway where a truck and boat could have been. bang
