My cousin gave her husband a Catahoula Leopard dog for his birthday.

This guy is in his 70's (a little younger than me) and takes his hunting and fishing as serious as anyone I know. He has a fantastic hunting reserve of his own with a nice fishing lake on it. Right out his back door.

Now he is very proud of this dog. He isn't going to make a pet out of it. He is going to train it to hunt hogs - and he has a lot of hogs to hunt.

He made living quarters for the dog near his barn and started his first training run. He goes out on his side-by-side with the dog sniffing the ground like it is on the trail of something good. Then the dog took off towards the woods with his nose to the ground and barking up a storm. My cousin shut off his ride so he could hear his barking dog go deeper into the woods. After a few minutes, he saw a streak running out of the woods. When he looked closer, it was his brave Catahoula running as fast as it could with a little black hog on its heels.

Well, who said the dog couldn't bring hogs to his master?

My Catahoula has been the best dang dog I ever had, no doubt. The one single negative thing I can say is was when he was younger, I just could not keep him out of the water. If he saw a chance to get wet--he was jumping in.
