I predict it is going to be 100 plus degrees. No rain for days.

If you’re hunting a tank it will rain within two weeks of opening day.

100% chance of scattered and falling feathers and a wet cold one to wash it all down with.

Its shaping up to be a good one this year

My son asked me last weekend why I was so positive after last year's dove and duck seasons. I told him I've seen 54 of them and you never know when that magic day will happen, but if your not positive your likely to miss it. I hope his season fantastic. I'm getting to that age when I want to watch someone shoot birds as much as I do.

We got water and seeds so whatever it is we'll be there.

I hunt with my brothers...out in Arizona...been doing it for the last 34 years...even in the years when the "monsoons" come before opening day, we always do great...the whitewing part of the limits come easy, you have to shoot early birds and well for the mourning dove part of the limit...been 10 years since my dad hunted with us, and 6 since he passed...this will be the 4th without my wife...who liked the AZ trip as much or more than a did...as the oldest of 5 brothers, now I can't stay away...and the beauty of the spot we hunt is the birds really don't start flying in earnest until after 9 AM...that my brothers have built in pools at their houses makes the non hunting hours in the desert a lot more enjoyable too...then I get a second "opening day" in the South zone and it can be good...or great...just depends on the rains...Life doesn't get much better than this...

I can vouch for birds in Arizona especially around the havasu area. Load after load of em fly it's crazy stuff. Its along ways to go to hunt doves, but it has crossed my mind.

I am skipping Sept 1 this year.

Where I am headed, we are almost guaranteed around 60 degrees at 9:00 in the morning and maybe 75 as an afternoon high on Sept 2nd.
I know I will not limit out... but I expect to go through at least 4 cases of shells each day.
banana

There are still openings at the lodge we are headed to in Cordoba for the first week in Sept. If you want to skip sweating to dove hunt and instead do all the dove SHOOTING you want, then send me an IM for the details.

This will be my third trip. September is their spring and the shooting is unbelievable. It started out as a Bucket List item 10 years ago, but after that first trip, I immediately started saving for the next trip.

I'll be thinking about all you folks dripping sweat into the parched ground and corn stubble.

We all need to practice Whoa more.

Accu weather extended forecast is showing rain for 9/1.
But we had a lot of dove here last year but not much time to shoot.

I'm close enough to the 1st to make my prediction.

Cold front and rain about the 20th of August followed by hot/dry weather. Whether that will result in more birds or less I don't know. It's just what my bones are telling me.

Maybe most, but some of us are real bird hunters, too. End of Sep means bow hunting deer in the AM, dove n beer around a pond in the PM.

I’ve hunted in mud and dust. When it was still and scorching, windy and cool. It doesn’t matter.
It’s openin day.

All that matters is can you hit them?
