Have never been to Orange Beach, only Gulf Shores. It’s almost the same thing, a little different. I prefer Orange Beach

Arrival Route. Took 20 to Tuscaloosa, spent night in Vicksburg.
Drove from Tuscaloosa to Orange Beach, through rural Alabama.
Observation, there are not many cows in Alabama. Saw very few fences.

Stayed at Blue Water. Pretty nice place. Stayed on 11th floor.
Double red flag means water is closed, but Beach was open.
Very rough water due to tropical storm to the gulf.

Ate at steamers which was good boiled shrimp. Ate at Docs seafood two nights in a row. Was gonna be 3 but line was to long. Went to big wave Dave’s, it was good but no Docs.
BTW Buzzsaw, they cook your catch at Docs.

Had breakfast at Southern Grind everyday, my wife likes coffee. Pretty nice place. They also have gelato. Kids liked the Belgian waffles.

Didn’t even buy groceries, just ate out every day.

Worst part of trip was going to Ron Jon’s surf shop. That place was packed every day.

I don’t like the road situation in Orange Beach, only U turns.

Just hung out at the beach and drank beer. Didn’t check email. But still got a couple work calls a day.

Left early yesterday morning. Watched the radar to avoid as much rain as I could. Stocked up at buccees in Alabama with gas, ice and breakfast burritos. Went to Mobile, up Mississippi through Hattiesburg to Jackson and 20 the rest of the way. Took 9.5 hours.

I made it to Longview and work called. Was 2.5 hours from home. Had to drop off family, take a shower and head in to work. Back to reality.

Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

I was exhausted just reading that. Sounds like a great trip except for work intruding.

Not a fan of Doc's. I ate there once last year after waiting over an hour for a table. I just didn't get all the hoopla about it. But I could eat at ACME Oyster House every day.

coffee spelled backwards is eeffoc. I don't give eeffoc until I have my morning coffee.

I’m sorry. I thought that was the place 45 minutes away.
Remember. I only get to drink a few days a year, and take full advantage.

We were there June 30th-July 5th. Stayed at a condo called Phoenix West right on the beach. I'm not a beach person but it was fun. We went out fishing one day out from Mobile bay. 4 of us went...got our 8 fish red snapper limit and your truly caught 5 of them, 2 were really nice size. We ate at Fin& fork one night and Zekes another. Both were really good. We flew into Pensacola and rented a vehicle....that made the trip almost as we were back to love field in no time. I just watched Barry Stokes on the outdoors report show and he was in orange beach also. Were planning to go back next year also.

That’s good to know. I was unaware SW flew to Pensacola.
I did stare at the sky and noticed a lack of planes.

Fin n Fork looked a little to Sushi like for me.

I would love to go fishing, but get seasick. I caught a nice sailfish in Ixtapa, but slept the whole trip. Just woke up to reel it I.
