I felt like the guy on Caddy Shack trying to get rid of the groundhogs or whatever after raccoons starting using my back yard as a latrine about a month ago. I've gone to great lengths to make them stay away and had no luck trapping them until last night. I got feral cats and the same juvenile 'possum twice the same day with Underwood potted meat. Raccoons wouldn't try canned corn or wet cat food. Peanut butter on wheat was irresistible I guess. I am in the middle of town and don't have many options besides deterents or trapping but today this little )*#%(*$ is taking a ride in the country.

Similar results here. I live in a typical subdivision and had a nasty looking feral cat that thought it was our labs pet cat. I caught coons and possums before I finally trapped that nasty cat.

I agree that Marshmallows are a great bait, but a GW once told me to use the jumbo size.
He said that the coons think they are turkey eggs. I have and have always caught some in
the live trap that way. It might help if you were in an area where there are Turkeys.

Take your .22 barrel and put in the cage, they will, grab it with both hands and bite the end of the barrel. Pull the trigger once they bite and its over. I did this for years.

Just be sure the trigger for the trap is not behind them, i shot one like that, .22 bullet exited and hit the trigger for the trap and just about rendered it useless, 1 hour of hammering fixed it though.

Save the ride. We have possums and such. I used to cart them down to the lake and release them. Wife has more killer instinct especially since it's her garden they are fooling with, Dispatch and onto a corn bag for the trash. Cats get a ride to the lease!

I put peanut butter on one side of a couple marshmallows this time. I'll know in a bit if I got one

EDIT: Nothing trapped this AM but the bait is missing from the smaller trap. When I set it I forgot to remove the safety bail from the trigger. I'll likely have something trapped tomorrow.

Since I caught the one I have seen no piles and trapped nothing. Same morning there was a big male dead in the street a few blocks down. I could tell there was a momma and daddy and at least one baby using my yard at one point. I'm hoping the daddy getting hit by a car and the momma going away at my hand means the babies are gone too.

Marshmallows have yielded no results yet but I put put motion lights and "scary" foil pinwheels too.
