Worst year of my life! I was 5 and loved oranges. Mom bought a whole box from the local FFA kid on a Friday evening, said I could eat all I wanted. Oranges, good for you right? Well, come Monday morning there wasn't a single orange left for Dad's lunch box, and I was one sick puppy. I made myself so sick eating all those oranges I was in my mid-30's before the mere smell of an orange didn't make me sick any more. When I started school the cafeteria had to stop serving orange jellow because I'd puke at the smell of it.

Today I found a 1972 quarter in my pocket change. In February of 1972 Mom and I flew from Texas to West Germany to be with Dad. He had been living in the barracks but before we arrived he rented a small house in Bad Nauheim. The German landlady charged them a little extra each month because she knew Americans bathed every day.
What were you doing in 1972? Three years before my time, but your dad and I were stationed at the same place...Ray Barracks in Friedberg. That's also where Elvis was stationed and he lived in Bad Nauheim which is a small "suburb" of Friedberg. I used to eat at the Elvis A. Presley Dining Facility on post every day.

Just finished my stint as a REMF at Ft. Sill and started going back to school at OU to see if I was on Okie or Texan. I'm a Texan, and I have the food tastes to prove it - chile, Shiner and BBQ

Working in the oilfields around Odessa for $2 an hour while helping my first wife through nursing school. The plan was after she finished and got a job, I would go to college and study engineering. She finished up in 1974 and two weeks later the b***h said I don't love you anymore and left.

Started college using the GI bill after serving fours years at sea. Finally mature enough to make the grades needed to graduate and become a teacher/coach.

13/14 years old depending on time of year, riding motorcycles, spending every minute possible outside usually hunting something, in junior high ... I was already on BB gun number 4 or 5, had a pellet gun, 22 rifle and bought my first shot gun (20 gauge double barrel) and hunting rifle (Savage 99 lever action in 243) with my own money from working in a fruit stand and snowcone stand all summer along with various shredding jobs with my dad's 9N tractor. I still have all the guns except some of the worn out BB guns and the 243 (traded it for a 22-250 bolt when my son was born in '84).
