Looking to book a 4 night cruise outta Galveston to Cozumel. Don’t plan on straying too far from the port in Cozumel. It’s going to be The wife, 2 year old and I, any tips on where I should book a room on the ship or things that would be good to do? Looking at Royal Caribbean.

We’ve done that cruise twice

For the money, it’s nice. It’s worth the money

We never stayed in our room a lot to justify spending for the balcony up to you.

Eat a good meal before you get on the boat and one in Cozumel. It will be the only two good meals you eat

The food on the ship sucks, you can get by on some decent sandwiches but everything else is flavorless

Look at the age of the ships, Try to book one that is newest or the newer one in the fleet.

This sounds like carnival..... not royal Caribbean.

Escaping the daily rat race to be among thousands of other people on a boat.

I never understood that concept.

Many years ago they were much better.

For me the best thing is you don't need a passport to enter each country, it's easy to go on the island or country and not have to mess with immigration, just show you ship/sail card and get on and off the ship.

I cruise a lot, I'm on nine or ten. We only go with royal Caribbean. I've gone on carnival twice, we even got married on the carnival magic. Overall royal is just a nicer cruise line, but the difference in the two isn't huge. As far as rooms, I've been all around. My advice is to pick whatever you can afford. It doesn't matter where on the ship either. In the rear you will be able to hear the vibration on the engine. It becomes white noise after a while. In Cozumel I would go to playa maya it has a nice beach, good food, and free drinks. You can't go wrong. If you have any questions for me, feel free to PM me.

We usually fly somewhere to get away and have enough points that it’s always free, but with a 2 year old it seems easier to try the cruise. Don’t potentially punish other people on the plane, don’t have a car seat issue to worry about, don’t have to worry about the longer flight etc.

That’s one thing I was wondering about is if front middle back mattered. As far as the balcony I’m thinking of not getting one just so I don’t have to think about my daughter slipping outside and ending up overboard somehow.

Carnival many years ago like 15 or more used to offer excellent food, especially at the dinners at night where you sit down and had early or late dinner. Best food on Carnival now is the buffet food which is pretty good. But not fine dinning like it used to be years ago.

We like an outside room towards the back, that is where all the food is. Don't have to walk as far.

Stay mid ship and make sure ya got bedrooms above and below ya. You dont want a dance floor or something loud above ya. Get the balcony, its worth the view,, no way a 2 year old could open the door to the balcony.

doesn't sound like you will have much time on shore, it's all steaming there and back in 4 days ...

US Navy will get ya on a cruise, depending on your job. Nice 6 to 9 month long ones. Or if you get into submarines you can get a cruise anywhere from 90 days to 5 or 6 months. Scenery sucks on those cruises though. If you get to go swimming you are more than likely having a bad day.

Yeah I don’t really want to make it a long trip with the little one. This is really kind of a trial run.

Don't watch Bill Burr's comedy routine on Cruise Ships!

Don't click this link, the language is horrible!

Royal Caribbean is more family friendly. Also have a free daycare on board so that’s always an option too. Balcony room is worth the extra money. Mid ship is a little easier on motion. Food gets old after about day 3 but you can do some of the premium restaurants for other options.
