I wanted a good lower cost bullet to load in my 308 as a primary hunting round. I ended up with the following load.

Hornady Interlock 150 grain
Hornady brass
CCI Large Rifle Primers
46.5 grains of Varget
COAL 2.800

Rifle is a Remington 700 Varmint with an HS precision stock and Timney Trigger. Rifle is wearing a Leupold VX5HD scope.

My two best 5 shot groups at 100 yards, but if I did my part this is a sub MOA load. Groups were shot using a Caldwell rest up front and sandbags to support the stock.




Waiting on my new chrono and then I’ll know the velocity.

I load that same bullet for my .308 hunting loads. It has always been accurate for me and I see no reason to spend up to $1.00 a bullet for anything else.

In the end even $10 a bullet would be cheap for what most of us spend on hunting. Ive had far too many Hornady interlocks perform like crap on game to use them.
