Oh kay single reed double reed acrylic carbon fiber wood. Which is the easiest to learn how to use? I plan to duck hunt this year so I should probably learn how to call and quit waiting to pass shoot them.

Haydels dr-85 double reed...best call to learn on...Academy has them and the price is right...!

Start with a whistle in the blind. Go get a cheap(er) double reed echo, or the like, and practice while driving. After you get semi proficient with basic quack and start stringing them together, take it to the blind with you. Experiment, see what they like or don’t like. Tons of videos on line, everyone has their favorite calls, etc. The basics of it are straightforward, different videos will have you “say” certain things into the call to get the desired sound. Find what works for you. Point is, double reed is easier to learn on. Different materials will give a richer tone, user preferences.

Double reed is easier to learn on but as you progress you'll find you like the single reed more.

The Echo Timber is a good middle of the road call that's easy to blow and won't break the bank.

It takes a ton of practice to just get a good sound going but the real trick is learning when to call.

DR-85 has probably called in more ducks than any other call.

Double is more forgiving then a single and will have it's place in different hunting situations.
Singles are harder, but there are many different types. Some easier then others.
Comp calls require more skills then, say, a cut down.
How a single reed is tuned also plays a part. Longer reeds, the deeper the tone and easier to use vs a shorter higher pitched calls.
Back pressure is another thing to think about when it comes to control and sound.
Same with forward pressure. Duck calls are musical instruments.
You don't have spend hundreds to get an exceptional all.

IMO, nothing is better than having someone with calling skills to help. Videos are great but a mentor is better.
One last thing, buy local. Find a TX call maker and go see them. (There are plenty) They can assess your skills and match a call to your needs and give you some tips.
If you do get a DR-85, don't get the clear one. They can get gross looking.
