I’m in need of a decent 40’ container to store furniture and other things in for 6-9 months while we build a new house. Anyone know where to point me? I’ve called all the places google found on the east side of Dallas and most were closed today. I’ve seen from 2600 - 5000 😳

Rent a Cool Box - insulated to protect your belongings from heat and humidity. Probably not the cheapest but you may be able to swing a long term deal.

Try Diamond J containers out of Graham. I know he travels to the metro mess quite a bit.

We have several 40ft containers at work and those things get hot and hold a lot of moisture I wouldn’t put anything valuable in them

They are $3200 delivered in Houston. Proximity to the port keep costs lower I guess.

If you are gonna store stuff in one for that long that is not insulated and cooled, throw the stuff away and then buy new when you are ready. Heat and humidity will ruin it all. Ask me how I know

I too have been looking. Bought a 20 footer today

They’re all within 300-400 bucks

Some add delivery and some add it into the price

I found the best, cleanest 20 footer today on their lot for $2500 w tax and delivered

The “best” deal out there ain’t much to spend weeks looking

Weve never had one on our lease but it seems no one ever has anything bad to say about them but a bunch of yall seem to disagree. Maybe its the difference in whats being put in them. I always just hear about using them for UTV and ATV along with lawn and garden type stuff and general stuff laying around the lease. If used for that purpose would they be fine?

Yes, for the most part. The only thing that got ruined in mine was seven 60 LB rolls of Lincoln Outershield 71 wire. It rusted in the packages one winter.

If you put some good ventilation in you shouldn’t have a problem

I bought a 40' high cube with only one set of doors to store my things in when I moved back to South Texas about 7 yrs ago now. I had them put a vent on each end to allow airflow to circulate through it. I set it on the east side of a huge live oak tree for afternoon shade just not under it. The biggest issue I had is that the roof started to leak after about 6 months since I bought it over the phone. IIRC I paid around $2850 or $2950 delivered back then.

I bought a 40 High Cube two months ago to store a tractor with shredder and kubota 1140 in. I got it off craiglist for a little over $2800 delivered. The guy even came a few days ahead of delivery to make sure he could put it where I wanted it.

if you use a container I would strongly suggest you get at least one temp/humidity controlled vent fan (solar are available).

those things are made to be air tight and will (as said before) ruin anything left exposed inside them due to humidity and condensate.

I need to check that out for our 20. How long do they last? We have a moisture fan when using the shower but it gets humid in there. No mold yet in 5 years though. It goes months with no one in there. Just two of us use it.

Depends how much you use, the small tubs for a couple month. We started using it at our house in Rockport and made a huge difference. Finished Container works really well. I think bought 3 refills pack and just changed it out accordingly. Also helps make the place smell pridyyyyy
