How much of that will not be unharvested due to flooding?

all I heard and read was how little of it was getting planted, and I was simply keeping up through cow/calf, and feed prices. Most all of that being planted will be harvested, and with today's equipment, there isn't much left behind. I don't think the duck farmers in the bottoms have even gotten the water off of their impoundments yet, so planting and getting a corn crop is a long shot.

Time to hunt north I reckon.
No matter how high a duck flies a hammer still breaks a window.

I'm headed to SD in Oct. thought what the hell, I'll apply for a waterfowl permit. I want a green head, having never shot one. The Rock Island lease was scarce for anything but a few teal last year

There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

and 20% of it isn't which is a lot. take into consideration that up north you have a much smaller window for growing also, not like down here where you can plant in feb/march, and grow into October if you had to. Missouri corn planted in june vs april yields 30-40% less than that planted in april. todays corn farming practices up north aren't what are causing our lower duck numbers. between the new ways of farming and efficient harvesting, a dry harvested field isn't what it used to be. Duck species that don't even feed in dry corn fields aren't coming like they used to.

Sure, corn was sown, but the harvest is forecast to experience an 80% failure rate for this growing season according to investment and market analysts.

I thought it was beaver's job to spread doom and gloom predictions? I'm gonna focus on out of state trips this year. Mainly upland, but will try to work some duck hunting in, too.

If so contract rates and futures should be out of sight, And..... they aren’t... 413, Trust me I prayed you are right but it ain’t happening. Planted Acreage is there and we will see top end yields this year in most places this year, barring a large scale disaster. I’m rolling dice and haven’t contracted any yet

We aren't a 3rd world country... If so you could make a ton one year and lose it all the next. Right??

Contracting you would make a little more or little less, but set amount of income vs your expenses, assuming you make it to market. the flip is you are also responsible for the contracted amount even if you loose your crop. It’s a hedge more or less but good indicator of what’s actually going on in the commodity markets

To heck with corn futures, I want duck futures. Where's that market? I'm not talking ag ducks either. I want to purchase an option for ten duck limits expiring Jan.
