How long is your typical hunting trip?

As a kid, we would leave Friday after parents got home from work, hunt Saturday and Sunday morning then head home.

Now, my typical WT deer hunt may be one or two consecutive sits, followed by several off days then a sit , then off, etc. close proximity makes this easy and convenient.

I do week long hunts out west for mule deer and elk

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

We typically try to get out early enough on a Friday and try to get in a hunt. Then Saturday and Sunday morning.
Sometimes we can sneak in an extra day by adding a Thursday or Monday.
Our lease was always best the weeks that we could go out during the week, nice and quiet.

Typically my hunting trips are 2-3 days. Any longer than that and I can’t stand the smell.

I would leave early enough on Friday to hunt Friday evening, then Saturday and Sunday. Head home after dark on Sunday. Sometimes leave at non on Wednesday and stay until the weekend.

Usually Friday afternoon/evening till Sunday noonish. I don't like shooting in the evening, especially a Sunday evening. Will also take a few days during the week a couple times during the season..

If work and the old lady allowed, I’d go on 5-7 day trips. Since that doesn’t happen, I hunt Saturday am through Sunday am, 3 hunts.

To variable to pin down. Hunted 12 straight days in Africa once. Some times I go to the deer lease for the afternoon. Everything in between.

During axis rut I try to go for at least 4 days in a row every couple weeks. During white tail season I'll spend 8-10 days in a row at the ranch and then a few 4 day trips to both of the hunting properties. Elk is always a 5 day hunt. During the rest of the year my trips are typically just 2 or 3 days.

Texas hunts pretty much just weekends. Sometimes Friday or Monday worked in. Out of state hunts around 10 days.

Leave at lunch of Friday and home by Sunday after lunch. 3 to 4 sits.

Just depends. When I was on SW TX lease during WT would leave Thursday pm and head home after Sunday morning hunt, but would stay the whole 15ish day Mule Deer Season. Out of state/country hunts usually 8-10 days.
Now, small hog/varmit lease typically is Friday pm hunt- Sat am and then back to metromess. I now typically slip out for a 3 sit hunt every other week.

I would leave work early on Friday drive 4 hours and rush to my stand for evening hunt then hunt through Sunday morning and drive home. NOW forced myself to retire in 2013 bought my own place Rush to cabin on September 30th then hunt every day through january 15th it is very demanding but I feel someone needs to do it clap

Mostly Friday through Sunday morning but I try to get down there every chance I get during the rut. So a couple or three times a year I may be there 5 days in a row.

I have many more mature buck encounters when I am by myself during the week.

We're lucky enough to have good day hunts up in the mountains and on the ranch. When going down to Texas for hogs it's a week hunt always, including travel days.
For a LQ tag we will take at least 5 days and set the wall tent for camp, leave it up and hunt from it several times over the season.
Most of our multi day hunts are week day hunts. For cow elk and mule deer on the ranch we'll go up and stay a night or two, unless friends are up hunting then it's 5 days if they want them all.

I don't hunt bucks. They are $$$$$. So, for a meat hunt, go to a stand about 1/2 hour from the house. Sit for 15-20 minutes before the feeder goes off and when the deer come out, find a doe without fawns that looks healthy and whack her. Go pick her up, drive about 5 minutes, field dress her, and go home. So, all totaled about an hour and a half to two hours.

Pretty typical for me. Generally go out on Friday and come home Sunday afternoon. I try to get there in time to hunt Friday evening if possible and I'll sometimes stay and hunt Sunday evening if I'm feeling it.

Probably about half a day on Saturday. My catfish trips are longer than my hunts.

Local hunts here in-state are usually one day, or the occasional over nighter. Most are just based out of the pickup or a camper.

For out of state hunts, we try to hunt 3-5 days, with one or two travel days on each end. All of our Texas hunts fall into this category.

1-5 days. Lucky enough to live within an hour of the camp. After a couple of days, I'll go home and sleep in a nice bed. return the next morning.

Tough life.

As most people have said, Friday through Sunday. But depending on work and vacation, I try to take a 3-4 day hunt in the week around the rut and then between Christmas and New Years.

I work 10 hr days so I have a 3 day weekend every week. I usually save most of my vacation and take an extra day off per week during Nov. and Dec. So I average 4 days per week and sometimes a few more.
