Is this whole thread about killing elk, with certain cartridges, and bullets at beyond 800 yards?

Or is this about killing elk, with certain cartridges, and bullets at plus 200 yards?

Found this thread. About the 215 vs 195. It’s 7 pages and I haven’t read it all.

https://www.longrangehunting.com/th...00-win-mag-with-215-hybrid.199254/page-2

I see some are running the 30/28 in the mid 3100 FPS with the 215s.

Not to high jack the thread......aside from fire forming brass and custom dyes, why not just go with the .300 Norma Improved? (Speaking from a standpoint such as myself, not the OP’s, where I am starting from scratch). I myself am in the market for a .28 Nosler, but after some reading and research, the 300 NI seems palatable. Anyone have drop charts for each to compare? Pros and cons to the Norma improved in general as well as compared to the .28 Nos? Obviously barrel life seems to be a big knock on the .28 Nos, but rebarreling isn’t a big enough concern for me not to go that route. I am a huge .284/7mm fanboy so it’s hard for me to think of doing something different. It’s long range ballistics are second to none. I have read a lot of Ryan’s work. Seems to build some really nice stuff.

I didn't even know that there was such a thing as a 195 grain .284 bullet.

What is the sectional density of that bad boy?

The 300 Norma Mag is a great round. But the size of the case and case head require it to go on a 338 Lapua size action. Going up in size changes the rifle size to a bigger rifle.
