Very nice blade you have there! Any idea on the value? I will be going to Tokyo early next year and will be looking for a piece like this.

found out that a blade that I brought back is listed in John Slough's book at a million yen, that's $8000.00, I don't remember what I pd, couldn't have been much making $44. every two weekx. it is a Japanese officer's sword made during WW 11.

this is the officer's sword, the color of cord & tassel indicates rank, the last pic shows the signature on the tang [Linked Image]

I have one that I bought at the Bo Franks show at the old Austin Coliseum in the early 80's from a vet that spent a good many years in Japan, its a good example of one that's not signed but authentic, like examples are in the $700. range, if it has paper (some are showing up with certificate that increase's values, my collection is not that big and I don't know if enough to judge what is authentic to pay today's prices's, I am always on the look out for certain items like the spear. will get a pic as soon as my camera battery is charged.

Nice swords. They always were the most interesting collectible to me.
