Have a crack in the windshield. Needs to be fixed.
Never have replaced one before. I have Geico insurance.
Is it worth filing a claim? Any preferred DFW companies???

Gracias.

Depends on your coverage. I have Allstate. Replaced one last year out of pocket because my deductible was more. Got the install recommendation from my ins co.

State Farm use to cover the chip repair at no cost or deductible. Last time I tried. they said they could not do that in Texas. Anybody have an insurance company that will have the chips repaired?

First call your agent and see if you have a glass deductible buy back, if you do, then it's zero deductible. Insurance companies stopped the free chip repairs when they started offering the buy backs. Your Agent will likely know the best glass shops.Your comp deductible and make of car will determine whether you file a claim. Some windshields are inexpensive and some very expensive.

for every stereotype there's a prototype don't be the prototype

I've used Safelite to replace two windows and have been very happy with them. The front windshield on my Highlander was cracked and it was covered by Liberty Mutual. I don't think I had to pay much if anything for it. They came out to the house and replaced it in the driveway. I broke the back window of my Tundra being a dumb [censored] and that one cost me about $450. Insurance wouldn't cover that one without a deductible and since my deductible is 1K, I paid for it out of pocket.

Thanks,
Rich

I called my insurance company the other day (Farmers) and had them send out Safelite to the house and replace her Explorer windshield. It was sand pitted and had a chip too. You have to replace the molding pieces on both sides also, so it's like a $600 job at Ford. Just paid $100 deductible, fast and very professional.

Last time I had any glass work done on my old truck I had exploded the back glass on the lease when a feeder in the bed of the truck fell over. Since I had a crack in the windshield too I had them both replaced at the same time. $100 deductible on comp and the glass shop waived half of that so I got a new windshield and rear glass for $50.

For me yes, have been through 3 in one year. My company pays for mine, they run about 450.00. I recommend Auto Glass Connection on Divison street in Arlington. Come to your home office, pick up keys and do everything.

Had Mister Glass replace the windshield in my tahoe a few years ago because it was cracked. My insurance deductible was more than the cost so I didn’t file a claim. It was around $250 and they did it in my driveway.
