We love the Port A Pizzaria. Even better with a pitcher of beer.

Ate at BlueWater Cowboy two weeks ago, it was pretty good. A little $. Had one of their specialty mixed drinks that was off the charts, though.

thanks ... looks like the Blue Water Cowboy is right next door to the Beach & Station Street Grill ... looks like several of the other places are up in Rockport area .... will report back after the weekend on where we end up going.

PMK-the fried flounder at Beach and Station Street is some of the best that I have ever had. Substitute Red Beans & Rice for the fries.

Thursday evening, we went to the Beach & Station Street Grill ... very good gumbo, sausage, shrimp & crawfish with a kick using a light roux. meal was broiled flounder and grilled shrimp, slaw and spicy fries, very good!

Friday evening, we went to Virginia's on the bay ... gumbo was just okay with a dark roux, heavy okra based and no kick whatsoever. meal was fried fish, fries, slaw and beans.

Saturday evening, we stayed in and had leftover brisket that I took for lunch sandwiches and pork n beans. Kids went to Kody's and picked up food for dinner. I tasted the crab stuffed deep fried jalapeno and crab stuffed fried avocado and both were pretty tasty.

The only good thing about Virginia's is that it's on the bay, I have eaten there a few times over the years and it's not very good, well at least to me it's not.

time for another trip to Port A ... with all the COVID-19 and social distancing, instead of going out to eat, we will be doing to-go orders only for our evening meals ... I will be cooking breakfast each day, have a brisket my son is bringing for lunch along with sandwiches ... Any recommendations about places to get take out orders???

We used to buy fresh big shrimp for I think $2.50 lb off the Shrimping boat Polly Anna at Port Aransas Municipal Boat Harbor
301 J C Barr Blvd.
I think the boat docks there around 9:30 am, man nothing like fresh shrimp on the grill up

I didn't think you could buy directly off the boat any longer without some special license??? We used to do that all the time too but I thought they barred that ...

It has been about 3 years since we were last down there but it appears they are still selling them certain times of the year, Peggy Ann said something like last day was May 23rd until July?

https://www.visitcorpuschristitx.org/trip-ideas/must-see/gulf-of-mexico-shrimp-season-opens/

by Visit Corpus Christi Texas

The Gulf of Mexico commercial shrimp season for both state and federal waters will open 30 minutes after sunset Monday, July 15, 2019. The opening date is based on an evaluation of the biological, social and economic information to maximize the benefits to the industry and the public.

This means fresh Gulf shrimp will be available from local trawlers, such as the Polly Anna and Peggy Ann, both in Port Aransas, at Roberts Point. Shrimpers usually sell right off their boats in the morning, until they run out of shrimp. Generally, they begin selling around 9 a.m. Prices per pound generally range from $4-$8, depending on size.

we ate at that la playa mentioned above(not associated with the chain in corpus) a few years back. Had some expensive margaritas that i don't think were all that but regular ones were good. The food was fantastic. I has some kind of grilled fish that was great. Nice atmosphere, relaxing, would definitely go back but skip the expensive margarita.

we skipped a few years and went back last summer ... I was blown away at all the new construction and how the small town feel was almost gone overshadowed with the growth. Literally hundreds of new homes stacked side by side on what used to be marshland. At least rentals have leveled to some degree where we can rent a house for the family for a long weekend.

now with the COVID-19 stuff, we are choosing to get take out food only, not going into restaurants for a sit down meal.

Wife does not care for Port A anymore because of all of the new construction and the huge Schlitter Bahn, it has been losing its small island appeal.

Stub, the prior Schlitterbahn park was never in Port A but just over the CC Causeway on Padre Island where the old Padre Isles CC was. It is no longer a Schlitterbahn owned but now known as The Waves Resort with Schlitterbahn Park and is closed until 2021...
