Betty Crocker is safe. She doesn't have to worry that I will take her job. My home made pie crust would never be featured on the cover of the cooking magazines.

This is a peach pie that I made today. I am sure glad that I was not raised to judge a book by its cover; otherwise, I would have missed out on trying a delicious deep dish peach pie. The crust was flakey with a buttery flavor.

I do add one strange ingredient to my peach pies. I just add a pinch or two of cayenne pepper. Not enough cayenne to bite someone, but just enough to add a subtle undertone of flavor.

The rest of you just drool while I eat my pie.

Pie doesn't have to look good to taste good. That looks pretty good though, bet it tastes even better.

I remember making several things out of my mom's betty crocker book growing up. The cornbread and peach pie and cobbler were my favorites.

one of my wife's aunts gave her a Betty Crocker cookbook as a wedding present almost 41 years ago, we both still use it for certain things.

Shame on a couple of you for putting ice cream on pie. No need to go to the trouble of making a flakey crust if you are going to soak the crust in melted ice cream. Just make a cobbler. Cobblers are a lot less trouble than a good pie.

Doughy crust is the best. I would probably prefer to eat the pie unbaked

Finally, somebody that gets it. Ice cream is for cake and cobbler or to eat by itself. Making good pie crust in an art and the last thing I want to see on mine is ice cream or cool whip.
