It's a bummer that after the bass pro takeover Cabelas doesn't negotiate on price on their used guns, but I still find the occasional really nice jewel there. This one is a case in point that I picked up last Sunday. I have 2 "Pre Garcia" Sako L61 Finnbears (.270 and 30-06) that my Uncle brought back from Germany in 1969 so I knew right away when I saw it on the rack what it was.

Sure enough, a pre Garcia L579 Sako Deluxe Forester in .308 S#62000 range with a vintage Leopold M8-4X fixed 4x duplex scope (still very clear) with Sako rings. Light contour barrel with no front and rear sights, Bofors Steel marking so pre-1968. Like my Finnbears it's been hunted with but still nice condition. Like my Finnbears it has the original Sako recoil pad with the typical scrunched corner. Unlike my heavy barrel long action Finnbears it's very light in comparison. Bore is excellent. Looking forward to sighting this one in and hunting with it, think I'll even leave the M8-4x on it. It has some strange wide trigger. It's like a trigger shoe but is pinned on. I like the way it works though so leaving it on.

I figure it's at least a $1000, maybe a $1200 rifle. What did Cabelas have it priced? $499. I grabbed that sucker and ran out the door.

. My Finnbears are consistent tack drivers. The .270 has taken more animals over the last 50 years through 3 generations of hunters then I can begin to count. Looking forward to shooting this one.

Nice find! I stopped going to cabelas when Jacka$$ Pro took over. Will never do business with them or Dick’s no matter how good the deal. Too many other GOOD companies deserve my money even if it cost more.

Basspro or not, I shoo where i can find the best deal on what i want. Thats usually used from an individual or pawn shop but i have had great deals elsewhere
