I don't have hog panels or fence around my feeders and I believe that way too much of my corn is being eaten by the cattle on the property. Turkeys visit frequently. How do turkeys react to hog panels? Will they fly over it; can they get through it; or will they just stay out?

If they want to feed, they will jump or fly right over any fence without hesitation. Corn is like crack to turkeys.

Paneling off a feeder will have zero deterrent for turkey. I will, however, gladly come help with your turkey problem next spring.

I welcome the turkeys, not the cows. Thanks for all your input.

I use hog panels and have never had a cow get into a corn or a protein feeder. However, some folks say they have cows that will jump a hog panel.

My landowner has LongHorn Cattle and they will jump a Hog panel fence with no problem. We solved the issue by stinging barb wire around the pen and the cows stay out now.

I have more turkeys than I want and have 3 feeders with pens made of hog panels and more feeders with no pens. Very few of the turkeys ever get in the pen. Sometimes 1, occasionally 2 at the most. They tend to scoop up everything outside the pens, though.

Install a "dinner bell" funnel to force the corn down instead of out, keeping more inside the pen. I'm betting the turkeys will fly the fence, but it might slow a few down.

My old pen made of half hog panels and half wire fence would have turkeys flying in every day. Built a new pen with all hog panels and moved the pen about
65 feet from the old pens longtime location. This was 2 years ago and have seen only 1 turkey fly in to the pen. Go figure??

Hog panels and a couple strands of barb wire around 3 pens, Maybe 1 pic of a turkey inside in 5 years. But they will travel by and pick up the few kernels that make it outside.

Same. We have 3 feeders just barbed wire or sucker rod they hit daily. The hog paneled feeders, three of them in same bottom gets near zero inside the pen. If you only have one feeder in their turf that is penned maybe they will jump in frequently but give them easy corn they seem to pass the fenced ones. They walk by almost daily but never stop to eat.

I have only had one photo of a turkey inside my hog panel feeder pens in 7 yrs now. My pens are 10-11 panels in size and most of the corn stays inside the panels. I see a few turkeys walking around the pens every month or two in the trail cam photos just never inside them. I have a corn feeder and protein feeder in them and feed year round.

Because it is a pen and not a tree! They don't jump in ours and we have plenty.

Your turkeys are defective. Call TPWD for a replacement.....they are probably just lazy and or have plenty of food so it isn’t worth it to them to jump. Put some soybeans in with your corn and see if they will get in the pen.

Agree, bugs everywhere. Luckily don't hunt them at feeders anyway but deer season they walk on by. Drier areas I would expect different results. Been 6 years for us to have a dry year now. Rocky areas are different for them.

Nothing better than watching poults chasing grasshoppers. Chinese fire drill.
