*** appears they are still pushing poison control from all the questions that were in the survey. not sure how I got picked to do this.

I did it last year and I did it this year. I told them that I thought poison control was a bad idea.

It looks as if it was to sent to Texas hunting license holders, or at least that seems to have been the polling pool. And NO to poison

Received mine yesterday. I didn’t receive the earlier invitation referred to in this email. My response to the last one was that poison of any kind is a bad idea! Safe poison is an oxymoron. Many new drugs are advertised as being safe after “so called” long studies but the dangers of these drug or products are often not recognized until it’s consumed by a larger segment of the population for a long period of time. By that time it’s too late,

I got one and completed it. I certainly don't like the idea of poison either.
Why can't they start some trapping asistance, like they used to with coyotes in sheep and goat areas? If landowners started losing lease hunters BECAUSE of pigs, I bet they'd figure out a way.

Got the survey too. Their reference to an earlier notification kinda got my attention too--I'm pretty sure that there was no earlier invitation. Interestingly, had a similar "...since-you-didn't-reply-first-time" waterfowl survey from USFWS earlier this year.

I got mine a couple of days ago and completed it and returned it. I said "NO" to poison even if it was proclaimed to be "humane!"

Last year and this year, they mentioned "safe and humane" poison. So far, there is no safe poison. A safe poison would have to be species species and not cause any problems for any other form of life. Now, they may have a humane poison, but the safety aspect is coming from their delivery systems and the delivery system is a completely different entity than the poison itself. So far, their delivery systems haven't been totally safe.

I got the original email and a follow-up. I filled it out and called them out asking specifically if a chemical company was donating to this research program. I know for a fact that they will whore out to anyone that will pay them enough money to their program and get slanted results if it keeps the money flowing.

Yea, I made sure to relay that I really enjoy the opportunities hog hunting provides me and my young kids. And yea, certainly wouldn’t eat hog killed near a location that used poison to control the population.

3. no such thing as a 'safe poison' Just about everything is a poison. It just comes down to amount or concentration. Even pure water is poisonous if inhaled and if ingested in sufficient quantities, is poisonous. If ingested in enough quantity, water toxemia occurs, resulting in neurological shutdown. So technically, if we could overhydrate the pigs to kill them, the poison would be safe. It would not poison the groundwater. It would not kill off other vertebrates. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any way to make this happen with hogs, although people do it to themselves from time to time. However, the poison being tested last year was not safe, their delivery system failed to keep the poison hog-specific, and hundreds of birds died. https://www.timesrecordnews.com/sto...eral-hog-poison-testing-texas/629868002/

So when water boarding pigs you have to take that into consideration.

They have been known to squeal on each other. We need a facepalm emoji I did laugh though...what did they say when you asked about a chemical company sponsor?

I got the survey and completed it. I said OK to the poison IF it was species specific and non-residual. Of course there is no such thing. At least not yet.
