My mom wants to watch the kids in July.
What vacation spots would be good for the second week in July?
Hot is OK, hotter than H*** is not an option.

Trying to figure the same. Looking at evil Mexico again, maybe somewhere more playa de Carmen like vs mainstream Cancún .

Red River, Ruidoso or Santa Fe Nm or just about anywhere in the mountains. Sedona Az. Nashville Tn. Broken Bow Ok - cabins
Or if you're interested in the 'high' life - Colorado weed shops.

Banff National Park in Canada. But you really need a week to see it all. We only allocated a week and regretted not having more time.
2nd option, Ruidoso or Santa Fe. In Ruidoso there is horse racing, golf courses and casinos. A new place in town rents off road buggies and has guided backroads tour. A lot of history in the area. Santa Fe, history and the arts.

South Fork, CO is a nice area with plenty to see. I may be slightly biased in that opinion though.

Couple of things to think about if the beach is on your mind.
Mexico area around Cancun is not what it used to be and the sargassum(seaweed) has gotten really bad over the last several years along with the crime rate, gangs, and drugs. I have been traveling there for 25 years but have not been there much in the last few years, last time was 2 years ago and will probably be my last.
For the money, unless you want to spend a lot more, Jamaica is pretty nice and I go in July also. The differences between Jamaica and Mexico are the water is always really pretty and blue in Jamaica, not so much in Mexico. Not hardly any seaweed to worry about in Jamaica, it is cooler temperature wise, food is better, and the people are much nicer.
Sun Country offers charters to Jamaica which makes it really affordable if you travel on a Monday or Friday, so you have an option of a 3, 4, or 7 night trip.

You can stay at the Boulders resort in scottsdale for $109 a night. In the winter they normally charge $450 a night. Its scottsdale summer, it will be hot, but its dry heat. I ll take 108 F with a humidity of 20% any day over this Texas weather 92F with 80% humidity. Any day! Plus in scottsdale, it only gets real hot after 1 pm or so, so we usually golf at 7 am. In the afternoon u can drive north to Jerome, neat town in the mountains, which would be 30 degrees cooler https://curiocollection3.hilton.com...PHXRSQQ/index.html?SEO_id=GMB-QQ-PHXRSQQ

I’d go to the White River in Arkansas. The trout fishing is world class.

Don't know if you're a history buff but the wife and I went Gettysburg PA last year. It was interesting as I'm a Civil War buff. Check out the Doubleday B & B , it sits on the battlefield and the owner has family that dates back to the war. Take a guided tour and be sure to visit the museum and see the diorama

Lots of good suggestions. How long of a trip are you wanting to take? Fly or drive? What are your interests?

We're driving to Durango in July, will be my first time in CO during summer, I'm really looking forward to it. Probably going to go the long way and go to Carlsbad Caverns on the way, stop to see family in Albuquerque, then hit Palo Duro Canyon and the Story of Texas play on the way home.

Plus, they just finished a big renovation of the casitas last year, so everything is pretty spiffy. You can usually get an unlimited golf package for two under 300 dollars a night, which usually includes a 25 buck food and beverage credit per person per day.

We debating to stay in July at the Boulders or at the four seasons. The four seasons is $200 a nite and the boulders $109 We might try the four seasons this time, plus if you stay there, i get 4 rounds at troon north for $199 The four seasons has better food, better service and killer pools, plus everything at walking distance. At the boulders u need a golf cart pick up. The boulders casitas are uber nice though... Decisions, decisions...

July, the unlimited golf for two is 288.00....pretty good.

Prettiest place I’ve ever been in July was northern Michigan
Second prettiest place is upstate New York in the Adirondacks.
Ruidosa is ok, Casino is ok and the golf is good. A lot closer than Michigan it New York
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Alma is to high for me. Stayed in FairPlay one year. Couldn’t sleep and all my potato chips popped.
