I tried making pizza at home from scratch.

The kitchen smelled delicious as the dough rose.

I had read that pre-baking the crust a few minutes and using a sauce with a combination of tomato paste and tomato sauce to go along with the herbs and spices would help prevent a soggy pizza. Yep, the author of those hints were correct.

Overall not a bad pizza.

In response to the dough recipe question I used the pizza dough recipe found on the King Arthur Flour website.

I have used the kneadless bread recipe from that site as well. Both recipes work well.

As far as the pizza sauce I used one small can of tomato paste and one small can of tomato sauce to go along with oregano, garlic powder, onion powder and an Italian spice blend. The resulting combination produced a sauce that had to be spread on the dough because it was so thick.

Good luck on your home pizza.

I have made homemade crust a few times, then not long ago I discovered my HEB has frozen dough in the frozen food section. Just let it thaw overnight in the fridge and boom fresh dough for you to roll out.

Thanks for sharing I have been looking for a good pizza dough recipe for a while. Question... I looked at the recipe on their site it calls for 2 cups ittalian flour (or 1 3/4 cup king Arthur AP flour) and the next ingredient is 2 cups AP flour?

Did you use 2 cups Italian flour and 2 cups AP flour? or 2 cups AP flour? pr 4 cups AP flour? or 3 3/4 cups AP flour?

Lol just seems odd they list flour twice. Thanks

We have made our own dough, but since we prefer a wood fired pizza, buying Boboli pizza crusts is the best way to go. Homemade dough just doesn’t come out right on the wood oven

I like your idea of using Naan bread for the crust.

Here is a link for Naan bread that I have made a few times.

https://theculinarychronicles.com/2015/02/14/cast-iron-garlic-naan/

Naan bread would be a lot faster than the recipe I used from King Arthur Flour.

Thanks for your suggestion.

Redchevy this is a link for the King Arthur recipe that I used.

https://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/pizza-crust-recipe

I don't know why the flour company lists multiple recipes for the same item on its website.

I used 3 cups of all purpose flour. As far as how much water to use I started with 3/4 cup and added about 1/4 more a little at a time to get the dough to come together.

This has been my experience too. I've tried making crusts and they never turn out as good as the Boboli pre made...so I've stopped and that is the route we go. Don't know that I'd call my BGE a wood oven but similar deal.

I think it's more of an air flow issue, yes we can get our grills really hot like a traditional pizza oven, But it has to be the opening on them to really help circulate that heat. There is a reason for their design like they are. We can get a close wood fired pizza, but it's not the same.

Try adding couple tbl spoons of garlic and oinon powder to flower, I even add 3 tbs of grated parmesan.

Looks really good. I will definitely try it but with meat on top! chef

If anyone is in Dallas, Jimmy's sells preformed frozen pizza crusts in packs. Way better than any store crust. And of course all the fixings.
