You could contact the bobcat breeder on here and buy a couple to put in the garden.

the LO of one of my previous leases (vegetarian) built his home on the ranch, put in a garden but the deer were wiping it out. He put up cedar stays and then surrounded his garden with deerblock netting. worked like a charm on the deer but didn't slow down the hogs. DeerBlock Nettingwe have used similar on our peach & plum trees to keep birds off the fruit.

I'm going to try the fishing line first then if I have to go with safety net.Kinda need something portable that I can move around I work my rows with a good size tractor I also tried the fishing line as well. Didn't work and was a pain in the azz picking up all that line the deer drug all around my garden. If a high fence isn't a option, check out you tube on some other fences that deer can't or won't jump. I was going to build one of those until I just took out the problem myself!!!

My Dad puts up orange construction or safety fence what ever you want to call it. It messes with them and they won't jump it. I would've never believed it if I didn't see it first hand...he lives on 7 acres in Indiana that is wooded and they never mess with their garden. Yankee deer.... Ain't quite a smart as the ones down here, right? That made me laugh this morning...thank you sir.

Anything you try except a high fence will most likely just be a temporary fix. The mothballs will work a few days or weeks, but once the deer realize they are not a danger, they will ignore that smell. Booby trap noise makers like the bird propane guns? Once they realize the noise isn't hurting them, they will ignore them. You can make booby traps that work like a deadfall but instead of capture it just slaps them with the rope, might scare them off for awhile, but the fresh "green stuff" will still bring them in.
One idea that would be easy and cheap is to use the fishing line but also set it up so that when hit, it also makes some noise. Think of tin cans with rocks in them somehow tied to the fishing line.

A good 5' fence has always worked for me.

A good 5' fence has always worked for me. When we were fencing in our back yard, I made sure to go with 5' chain link around the sides and back, ornamental across the front. Haven't had a deer inside of it yet getting to our small garden plot or fruit trees. I know they can jump it, but they haven't bothered trying.
