I have hunted north of Jacksboro and the deer are pretty good body size. I guess it depends on if you are on a large tract surrounded by other large tracts, if so probably worth the protein.

And welcome

Hunted around Perrin/Jacksboro for 30 years and don't live far from there. I honestly don't see the cost/benefit for protein being worth it. Typically will be feeding too many deer to see the growth amount to much but might attract deer that won't be regular at a corn feeder.

First off, I wouldn't recommend jumping right into feeding protein on new deer lease. I'd get the lay of the land, what the neighbors are up to, etc... I'm guessing your place is really green with plenty to for them to eat, so I'd say starting this late in the game isn't a good idea. IF you decide to do it, start up in December, post rut, and go from there.

How come everybody I meet is a deer hunting expert?
