Ours is a hit and a miss, both HEB and United Supermarkets stock a lot of "homemade" concoctions. When we run low, we just try another version that is on the shelf. If one is flop, I can usually "rescue" with adding some picante or hot sauce.

That’s my take on it.

If I use any, I either make it or use Mildly Wild or Stubbs.

I prefer my own, which is not sweet but that doesn't work for my wife. She prefers mine sweetened but keeps Sweet Baby Ray's in stock. used to be KC Masterpiece.

for store bought, Sweet Baby Ray's isn't bad, just a bit on the sweet side for me. Red Mud and Head Country both will work if I don't have my homemade.

I bought some Head Country after reading it suggested on here so much. It's ok at best, I prefer sweet Baby Ray's myself. When I cook a brisket I catch some juice in a pan and mix it with SBR's and a squirt of mustard.

Try Full of Bull at HEB or Central Market. Nothing compares. Not too sweet at all like typical sauce from stores. http://www.fullofbullbbqsauce.com/ Most folks only have Head or Ray's at the store in the country or chain store so they don't get different and good stuff. I haven't used those two in 6 years. They aren't bad but try something different that makes meat still taste like meat!!

Lots of people complain about bbq sauce not being needed and I agree it isn't needed, but I do like bbq sauce too so sometimes I use it. Many times not even on bbq though lol.

I like sweet baby rays, and heb has a few variants I like a Korean one and I like their Kansas city one. My moms side of the family has a recipe that I like a lot but never make, it must have been a popular recipe because ive had the near identical sauce made from too many different people to count.
