Anyone have any advise on how to keep them from eating my peas? I'm inside the city limits so lead poisoning won't be allowed ,houses on either side .Planted 6 rows last year didn't get a pea they ate everything down to the stems.

Hang your sweaty t-shirts on the fence, and pee all around (after dark). Beer helps with the latter.

My brother high fenced them out. This. I tried the hair thing. Hung up plastic bags that would wave and rattle with the wind. Hanging dirty clothes and even a electric fence. Nothing kept them out.

Electric fence AND tie rags that will flop in the wind
They don’t prefer that movement from the flags and if that don’t work the electric fence should

They have deer netting at tractor supply you can use with t posts and it works great! You can also try getting a couple of strands of 25lb monofilament fishing line and stretch it tight around the perimeter. They can’t see it and so they bump into it and it freaks them out. You want it to be high enough where it will hit them in the chest or face as they are walking. Needs to be mono so it will have a little stretch to it. Google it for the specifics... a lot of people online swearing by it

You can try getting a dog. A good lab will chase them away.

I tried just about everything listed above and finally had to high fence my garden. It seemed they would get used to everything after a while and then just eat at will. I had a doe jump the electric fence and drop a fawn in-between my tomato plants. Hanging the gate in the picture, fence is 100' x 100' x 8' tall.

A 3-strand electric fence will work, but add the 3rd strand outward rather than up. Put the first strand about knee high and the second strand about 24 inches above it. Then run the 3rd wire about 3 foot outside the first fence at a height in the middle of the 1st 2 wires. This system is frequently used to keep deer out of food plots, so should work in a garden.

I've spent my entire life trying to attract deer and cannot contribute to this topic I love this comment. Thanks titan:) Only thing ill add is that I thought the hi fence comments were meant as a joke. You gotta want a garden really bad(which is ok) to put up a hi fence.

My Dad puts up orange construction or safety fence what ever you want to call it. It messes with them and they won't jump it. I would've never believed it if I didn't see it first hand...he lives on 7 acres in Indiana that is wooded and they never mess with their garden.

Looked at 10pm and 3am out the back door last night nothing!! Stepped out this morning 7am big doe just standing there staring at me like she owned the place. I'm going to try the fishing line first then if I have to go with safety net.Kinda need something portable that I can move around I work my rows with a good size tractor .Funny thing these deer won't touch a cucumber. My son puts up and sells a lot of pickles.
