I pumped gas directly from the pump into my generator and it idles and generates for about ten minutes and then acts like it's running out of gas and dies. Cranks back up after 5-10 minutes and then dies. Opinions?

That was my thought but I'd rather blame it on bad gas. Not really wanting to year in to the carb tonight. Had rather go in to town and buy new gas.

I've got a bottle of seafoam in the truck. Gonna give it a try!

Seafoam is the best to try first. Berryman's is a little harsh.

i doubt the gas you just pumped caused this problem. I’d like to know if the sea foam fixes it, I’ll bet you’ll have to disassemble and clean the carb.

My money is on the gas cap not venting. I’m sure it’s too late now but take cap loose and run the generator.

I filled mine up at the lease after an evening hunt. Ran 10 minutes and died. It turned out to be the gas cap after I packed up that night and went home a day early. Mine is a predator 3500 but it can happen to any of them I suspect.

Try "mechanic in a bottle", it has worked several times for me to clean up a gunked up fuel system.

I just laughed. So did the mechanic when he showed up.

Dump it straight in the carb if it's upright and let it choke out the engine while it's running.. If it's horizontal get some foam carb cleaner (Mercury makes some good stuff) and do the same.

Ever want to make DIY Seafoam?

Use a 4:2:1 ratio of Diesel-Naptha-ISO(Rubbing alcohol)

Wp believe it or not but that predator 3500 doesn’t breath through the gas cap it actually has a breather pipe thats in the fuel tank that goes into a charcoal canister next to the carb somewhat like a auto . Emissions on a generator . You may hav filled it to full over the breather pipe ( also pull out the spark a arrestor that predator will run a lot better )

Maybe I did get over the breather pipe. I do know it wouldn’t run but 10 minutes with the cap on and run fine with it cracked loose. Haven’t had trouble since. I’ll keep an eye on how much I put in it. It was dark and cold, I didn’t want to deal with it later so I just topped it off.

if ya let it sit a long time then the carb bowl probably needs to be pulled and needle cleaned.
just went thru this with our pressure washer, seafoam (80% in the tank, ran on ether to get it in the carb) didn't do it, fuel wouldn't flow thru the needle valve to the bowl as it was stuck shut.

simple clean and no need to pull carb if bowl can be accessed.

seafoam in the spray can to clean 9.00 at wally world.

I believe you're right. I have the predator 3500 and I filled up beyond the 2.5 gallons. It seems to be running fine now. We'll see this weekend after I put it under load.
