Can someone tell me where the country store, meat market is that is off I-35? I think it's South of Waco, to the East.

Zabcikville ... Green's ... their frozen marinaded chicken is some of the best I have ever had. good variety of sausage too. I've heard the cafe portion serves up a pretty mean hamburger too, although I haven't ever eaten there.

Yes, the cafe side does serve a really good burger. If you keep on down 53 another 20 minutes you'll run into Cyclone Corral for some pretty good BBQ.

edited to add: Stay straight at the big curve with the church and cemetery on the left. I think there's a sign for Cyclone now.

edited again: Check Cyclone's days off operation online! I think they;re only open Thursday-Saturday.

While you're there follow 53 untill it splits to 320 and follow it to Westphalia, you then can compare the two. It's been years since I have had either one but both were pretty good.

Is there an exit off 35 to 53?

I don't think Westphalia Market is there any more. Even the Westphalia Store has closed, last I heard.

There's not a "53" exit off I-35 but you can pick it up in Temple a couple ways. I think 31st Street turns into 53, but don't quote me on that!

with a slight joggle downtown ... I usually blow thru the light and have to adjust a couple blocks farther up.

I remember Cyclone Corral from 35-40 years ago. I loved it. Glad to hear it is still around.

At Greens do not forget the kolaches and other sweet goods in the glass case beside the cash register. HUGE selection of Jelly/Jams too.
If you are coming south on I-35 from Waco etc, take the Loop exit to the left as you hit the Temple City Limits and follow it around. You avoid bigtime traffic and having to go thru downtown Temple. Greens is about 7-8 miles east from the Loop. Even the Palestine VA Shuttle drivers will stop at Greens ..as long as they can still make Palestine by 5pm.

Wife and I always stop there when we are dragging the travel trailer toward somewhere south of here. We stay off of 35, and call it the highway of death. Too dangerous. So we take the parallel roads as far as Georgetown. Haven’t tried the bacon, but we’ll get some next trip. The Boudin is real good, and the assortment of sausages is big. And I’m a fan of the egg burger, which is a very good burger with a fried egg over the meat. Good fries too.

I can park the TT out back with the horse and cattle trailers and the power and light trucks.
