I have 100 Lapua cases sized and ready CCI 400 Berger 95gr H-VLD, 105gr VLD and 105 VLD Hybrids Hodgdon H4350 and Varget Looking for some stating load data, have some info from Berger but would like info from some of you guys
Thanks

http://www.hodgdonreloading.com/data/rifleHistorically, Berger is way to conservative with powder charge. What they say is maximum, is where many of us begin, and go up from there. For a new to me cartridge, I like to ladder test at 300-500 yards, and find that rifle's maximum charge. It may be well above any published maximum load. I find the limit, then use a load lower than that limit. Caution must be exercised in cool or cold weather, though. H-4350 and H-Varget are excellent, temperature stable powders, but they are not 100% immune to an increase in temperature. A stout load in February may be way too hot of a load in July.

I have a good load worked up for the Berger 95gr hunting VLD's with Vihtavouri N150 @3085fps. The VLD 105's were giving me some primer cratering with 39gr of H4350 @3025 fps, bullet just touching the lands, This should not be the max velocity for this cartridge, will try some CCI 450 primers, they have much thicker cups. The 6-6.5x47 runs at higher pressures which is one reason why Lapua uses the small primer on there brass.

I would 100% recommend a magnum primer with a thicker cup. I run a CCI #450 for my 6.5x47 loads. I started out with Fed 205's and would easily get some pierced primers on mild loads. The cups are too thin on the 205's and some other primers. And if you are running a large rifle firing pin, even more reason to go to a magnum primer.

Yeah, large firing pin, not too sloppy (typical Remington) at least its centered. CCI 450's on order list Larry

You might have to have Gretan bush your bolt.

I have a custom 6x47 with a bartlein on a Stiller tac30 action, awesome round and extremely accurate rifle. My current load with 105VLD hunting is 40.1 grains of h4350 in Lapua brass with federal match primers, loaded a few thousands off the lands. When the barrel was still new I was loading 39.5, after break in I did some testing and found 40.1 to be the sweet spot.

CCI 450 primers took care of the piercing primers issue, got 2 loads worked up for our prairie dog safari. 87gr Vmax's @ 3300fps and 105 Hybrids @ 3100fps. Both loads shoot well inside of MOPD (minute of prairie dog) with SD of 5 and 7 respectively. With the same POI at 200yds and very similar trajectory up to 700yds, 800yds and out the 105's are flatter. After this hunt the bolt is going to Gretan for the small firing pin and m16 extractor work.

Wow, some of you guys must shoot a ton to notice such subtle differences. Anyhoo...
Who installed your Bughole barrel? Maybe i missed this info. I asked because I'm super curious about combining the same barrel with a Northland Shooting Supply trued action. Reinstalling my Savage 308 barrel when i changed some things out was easier than I thought.
I'm a dude who likes long barrels!

I installed the barrel, hardest part is removing the factory barrel. Larry
