Fried oysters are a lot like sex to me. The worst I ever had was wonderful. I lived in New Orleans for three years. Fried oysters were everywhere. Never thought I would have the pleasure. Until I Tried Tads just south of I-10 near Katy. They are as good as one had. This is my plate after I had eaten a third. Where do you find them with a coating and a size like this?

I really like fried oysters and traveled South Louisiana for several years. The seafood was excellent and greatly enjoyed. Relocated to DFW a lot of years ago and have not found a consistently good place for fried oysters. Sure do miss them.

Bill, tell the waiter to send them fries back.
Serving frozen fries should be a felony.

Oysters look good.

I had some incredible fried ones at big fish downtown grapevine.

Grilled oysters with melted cheese are my fav too.

Try this place in grapevine for your fried oysters:

Also terrific on the menu:

Fish tacos
Crawfish
Filet mignon
Blackened redfish
Snow-crab
Cajun beef stew

I have had bad before. Over cooked it is chewy, undercooked soggy. Had some at red lobster early 80's, got food poisoning. Never been back to that place. My favorite are cooked at home.

Shane gave me a sample of their crawfish étouffée. It was wonderful. I may get that on my next trip.

I’ve had some good fried oysters at Kings Inn. That’s my go to order there, along with fried shrimp.

I have a little story about The Kings Inn. We were quail hunting 10 miles west of Falferrias. We fell into a whiskey bottle after the hunt and decided that the Kings Inn was close. I was passed out in the back seat when we got back to the gate that was shared with the KBR lease. One of the KBR hunting trucks was backed up to a border patrol truck. They were passing what looked like 5 pound bags from one truck to another. We asked if they needed help. One of them pointed a gun and said you'd better get out of here.

I miss good oysters. I worry about the integrity of oysters and shrimp these days since they filled the ship channel with poison.

used to love them, prepared pretty much any way ... got food poisoning from canned smoked oysters years ago, every time I have tried them since, my stomach turned over again.

Galveston Bay is not the only place oysters come from.

I used to love raw oysters and fried oysters, and best of all are Oysters Mosca and Oysters Bienville. But I ate a bad fried oyster a couple of years ago, got violently sick and passed out cold. That’s enough for me. So...I used to love em. Not the safest thing to eat.
