I live in a $500,000 to $1 million subdivision now and pit bulls everywhere.

Their breeding capability is also aggressive. Seems like every rescue dog is part pit or lab.

I was at a rescue event at Petco. My wife called me in as I love labs and was looking for one for my son.

I saw it was a pit lab mix and talked to the lady running it.

She said you like labs and this one has a great personality. I petted the pup and politely declined. My wife was pissed as she fell in love right away. The lady was also confused.

I said that I do not do pits. My wife then realized the pit look of the pup.

I am glad I was there, otherwise I would have had to take it to the pound if my wife brought it home.

Owning a pitbull I will never understand

So, I take my son to Petsmart last year with the intention of adopting

They had id guess 20 dogs and I swear 17-18 were pitts, the other 2-3 were clearly 10 year old dogs

I end up telli him we just can�t take any of these dogs, he�s upset so I say let�s go and check the local City Animal Shelter

Pits, Dobermans, Rottweilers, German Shepherds, Pointers, Chihuahuas, and killer Poodles among many others, All should be banned if the dum azz owner don't train them to listen and obey your commands. Can't put a dog in the backyard, leave them for hours and expect the mutt to do what's right. All have to be socialized around other people and animals. Got to be smarter than the dog.

Great comparison, you never know when they are going to go off. Unfortunately, several other breeds need to be included with the pits. A persons dog is a reflection of its owner.

I can't understand why anyone would want a "pet" that could kill you. Poisonous snakes, constrictors, big cats, potentially dangerous dogs, etc. have no place in the hands of private citizens. JMO

You had me until you decided what private citizens should do. I hate the thought of a pit bull and one actually bit my daughter while she was out running. It got put down. I do believe it�s pure ignorance to own one and there should be restrictions put in place not unlike those for owning a big cat, but this is America buddy.

That�s true for most all other breeds, but not pits.

My buddies regularly troll the animal shelters for pits that have been given up. Many are sweet and gentle, having been raised to be family dogs. But every one of them will lock onto a bayed hog the first time they encounter one and will not let go. From then on they are catch dogs. It�s in them. Period. All it takes is a trigger. Sometimes kids or others trip that trigger response, which is all it takes. I don�t care how they are raised. They are ticking time bombs.

They are bred to fight and kill just like pointers are bred to point and retrievers are bred to retrieve. You can�t love it or train it out of them.

I live nowadays outside of the metroplex. It�s like every white trash home has a pit bull.

It is the OWNER that makes the difference. Working with a Doby pup affectionately known as the HOUND FROM HELL. Very aggressive and fearless for such a young pup. Had to work on the aggression as there are youngsters involved. Doing well on a leash for sit, stay and walk. Any of the kids can handle him on the leash at this time. Never miss an opportunity to put him in a public place to �learn� how to behave around people. Hasn�t lost any puppy teeth yet so we still have a lot of work to do.

There is plenty of room for a pit bull, on the plate right next to the mashed potatoes and vegetables. But I think the pit bull would prefer kimchi.

They're good dogs to give moslems a real reason to hate dogs. We used them but that's a different story.

When my son comes home with his dogs, the first I know of it is the back door opens and 95 pounds of grinning, tongue flapping white pit is locked on to me and proceeding at full speed. All I can do is brace myself for a Juno attack. She is about it half way in my lap giving me a tongue lashing. Then she gets her tummy rub. Later we talk about all her new kills.

I think at minimum unless your a licensed breeder, they should all be spayed or neutered. Also, you should be required to keep $100,000 in accident insurance to own one.

On one of the 8,327 Pitbull threads before this one someone shared a picture of what a purebred American Pitbull Terrier looks like and I think the first pic should be close. 2nd pic has some truth to it and third one validates the second one.
