I have a couple of rifles I don't use anymore and am going to sell. I have looked at prices and they are all over the board so I thought I would ask here. One is a Marlin 882SS WMR. Very good condition with a Weaver K 2.5 scope with a dot. Scope shows its age. The other is a Remington model 760 in caliber 270. It has a Leupold 3X9 scope. The rifle itself has had a recoil pad installed and stock refinished. Is it better to sell with or without scopes? Thanks, Donald

Don ballpark the Marlin is $250-300 with the scope. The Remington is $400-500 without (the added pad is a slight negative). Add another $100-150 with the scope assuming it’s an older Leupold VX II or III as it appears to be. Might want to sell scope separately.
Again, just ballpark based on experience and perusing the online gun sales sites a little.

Thanks NP. I think I will put the Marlin on here for $250 and the 760 with the vari xll for $500 and see what happens. I also have a Colt Python with a 8" barrel I probably need to get rid of. Have not shot it in probably over 20 years.

You know the Python is very valuable I presume.

To be fair, if the Colt hasn't been shot in a long time the seals are all dried up and it needs an overhaul. That severely damages the value. You'll have my offer soon.

Grizz says the seals are dried up and it is not worth much. Like with the rifles I see prices all over the board. I don't want to ask too much yet I don't want to screw myself. We used to hunt the Director of Marketing for Colt Firearms back in the late 70;s and early 80's. That was when the "Colt Python Hunter" was introduced. I couldn't afford the complete package so I just bought the pistol. Came directly from Colt and also got Pacmeyer grips and a couple of belt buckles with it. Shot maybe 2 boxes of shells through it in the last close to 40 years. What do you think a fair price would be?

They are very specialized guns Don so I don’t feel comfortable giving a specific price. I used to see them up to $5000 for certain pistols but the market has softened a good bit over the past year or two. My guess would be in the $2500-3500 range. The Hunter configuration may mean it will bring more. (I’m assuming 98% condition.)
Someone on here can be more specific I’m sure. It’s a great pistol.

I do remember working security at a gun show about three years ago when a guy brought a Colt Python in to sell or trade. Another guy approached the table before I even got the zip tie on it and ended up paying $1,700.00 cash for it. When he walked away from the table he said he would get at least $2,000.00 for it at Cabelas and expected it to bring $2,500.00. You have a very desirable and valuable gun. With those types of guns the condition obviously affects the value as well as things like the original box that came with it.
