I have never seen a bush like this. It was next to an agarita bush for fruit size comparison. The berries are grape size and color. I first though it was a persimmon but persimmons are still green and larger.

Wild persimmon....good to eat Texas persimmon Mayhaws are red and look like very small apples. Mayhaw and wild plum are my favorite jelly

I suppose it could be a persimmon, but it is an odd one. The fruit is considerably smaller than our other persimmons, and already purple. None of our other persimmons are ripe yet. The fruit also lacks the star shaped leaf that crows each fruit, as shown in DDs picture. I'll try to remember to get a better pictures next week end.
