There used to be a B58 on Display at Altus MAC Base.

Lot of great airplane out there. One that stand out to me is the DC3 or C47. Plenty still in service since the early 1940s and still going strong. I would bet that there are more soldiers &people who flew in C47 and towed glider during D day than any other transport type. There was something like over 6000 flight made during D day alone. Don't forget their use in the Hump, Korea, and Vietnam.

I don’t know about best, but my favorites are the P-38, P-51, and A-10. My dad has built F-16’s, F-22’s, and currently the F-35. Those are all pretty impressive planes, as well.

My step father was SAC, so from the age of 7, I was at bomber bases that usually had some sort of fighters around. I don't remember the first time I saw a P38 in real life, but it became my favorite aircraft for years. My brother and I had all kinds of models hanging from the ceiling in our bedroom, the P38 sat on type of the chest.

The Army changed all of that, my favorite aircraft to day is the Huey, Earned my Air Medal award in 1968.

I'm surprising I haven't seen any love for one of the most lethal fighters ever made...

Since I’ve flown in a bunch of deHavilland Otters and Beavers built 50-70 years ago, I’ll nominate them.

All of these selections are great. Of the ones I have flown they would be Douglas Racer DC-3, Lockheed Lodestar (Lodetoad) and the UH-1. Would loved to have flown a C-130 and AH-1 Cobra.

I'm going with the old time proven B-52.

I worked on them from 1989 to around 1997 and the old bird is still in service today.
Talk about an aircraft that was perfected!

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

My father flew the RF-101C voodoo. Not a well known airplane but I grew up around it while he flew it. To me one of the coolest airplanes built. I remember being out on the flightline with my father while he graded touch and goes at night. Watching them come in, touch down and then lighting the burners to take back off was something a young man remembers for the rest of his life. No guns, low level reconnaissance only. He flew it in Viet Nam.

My fav ww2 bird. Not sexy like the P-51, but it's a survivor. Think flying tank.

B-52, A-10, F-4, SR-71. The phantom is my favorite.

Always been partial to the F4 Phantom 2. My father worked on Avionics for the F4 for years. We were stationed in Yuma when the last of the F4's were retired. We all stood and watched as they took off to the bone yard. My dad and his Squadron all took a bus to Tuson and filmed the landing and celibration. I still have the VHS tape. I have a copy of the original photo seen below of the Two Phantoms going verticle. These pics are all taken at MCAS Yuma. Pictures and models of the F4 along with Squadron memrabillia decorated our home growing up. After the F4's were gone my fatehr joined VMFA 101 with the A4's untill they were retired a few years later, followed by the new F18's. I look this evening to see if I can find pics of me as a kid in the cockpit of one of the SH Phantoms. Also have several original photos my father took in flight as well as others.
