I was going to get a couple of stand and fill feeders until this happened this week.
Never been wet here before.

I would select a higher ground location being that they are not gonna be feeding there regardless of what type of feeders your using.

This is the first time that water has ever been under this feeder. We have just gotten record amounts of rain this year. That was a "high & dry" place....I thought.

What’s your point? Low or high would not help if that happens. This rain was a unusual thing; but if you have that problem a lot, I would move.

My point is, a stand and fill feeder would have been underwater and motor, etc would have been ruined, where as a feeder on trapods was not. Some of us hunt bottom land
because that is all we got.

You need to move the feeder; unless your hunting 1 acre. And water and raccoons are swimming under the high feeder; pretty simple.

I think huntmaster missed the point that flooding the timer may be a con. Like MrT said, this hasn't happened before and similar events could happen anywhere. Even Noah had to wait for the water to go down before he found a mountain to land on.

There's only 2 seasons in a year. Deer season and getting ready for deer season.

I had a stand and a feeder down in some low lying area along the Trinity river NE of Fairfield. I got to hunt it the first couple of weekends of MLD3 season last fall before the waters came up. It was a tripod feeder and stand up on ~12' legs. The one time I could get back down there in mid Dec., the stand was laying on it's side due to leg sinking into the mud and pulling up all the guy wires (straps) and t-posts ... the feeder had been completely submerged, motor, timer and battery (and game camera) all were shot and full of very spoiled corn. I haven't been able to get back down there with a trailer to remove ... so at least yours didn't get completely covered in water.

cool picture of a coon swimming by the feeder. Guess you could stock a few perch in that pond for fishing ... roflmao

When placing any stand a fill feeders you must take into account low line flooding areas.

I'm surprised you don't have that feeder anchored down so that the hogs don't tip it confused2
And if you're getting flooding like that you may want to get that stand up in the air 2cents

Moral of the story: If your hunting in east Texas you better be aware of what happens when it rains alot. I would never set up a feeder in low land areas within 100 yards of a major creek. You can end up hunting in the middle of a swamp pronto.

Regardless of the type of feeder as PMK points out, your screwed.

We have two stand and fill feeders on higher ground. The rest are taller tripod type feeders. This is a big reason we haven't replaced the lower ground feeders with stand and fill feeders. There is at least one that has been in water just like that when the creek flooded really badly last year.

Just need to get creative if your stand and fill is in a bottom. [Linked Image]
