Dad got me hooked way back when I was knee high to a grasshopper on bluegills in Chattanooga Tennessee, then later on Large mouths and whites by the cooler fulls below Falcon Dam on the Rio Grande when they would shut down the flood gates. Our family ate lots of fish back in those days that we caught ourselves. Life and busy work schedules then got in the way over the years. I recently retired and he has as well so we have much more time. He used to fish Bass tournaments and didn't much care for bank fishing. But I got him on the water. He had not gone fishing in 10 years! Put him on the Crappie this week and me and him made some more awesome memories. Sun burnt, sore feet and tired of fileting fish but we had a BLAST!

Looks like a great day with one of my favorite fish.

Awesome memories! That sure is a BLACK crappie he's holding in that one pic. Enjoy the heck out of it man!
I did the same thing with my dad once. He had a stroke that afternoon when we got home...a mild one. We hadn't even cleaned the fish yet. I guess he got too hot. It was really weird, I'd never seen anyone have a stroke. His left eye just shot straight toward his nose, like he was cross eyed. That one didn't do him in, but it was the last time we went fishing together. He lasted a few more months. Then later I came home and found him laying on his bed. We figure he had a massive stroke or heart attack. And I'm not pooping on your thread, I hope, lol. Just know that you need to enjoy it NOW!

Mmmm Hmmm

The Boss and I just made our first trip to Chattanooga last weekend. Now I'm trying to convince her we need to look there as our retirement home. I see why they call it Scenic City.
