My tv won't come on when I use the infrared remote. I have tried to turn it on manually and with the tv remote and nothing. There is a blue light on the tv on/off button that is lit but when I push it nothing happens. I talked to Samsung last night and they couldn't figure it out and want to send a service guy out next week. I've tried rebooting everything and updating my remote and nothing. I've tried different outlets and where it plugs into the back of the tv and nothing .It's about 10 years old. Think it's about time to dump it and move on? Thanks

I have two of the Insignas. They work fine for me.

The big screens have come down so much in price I would not even think twice about replacing a 10 year old TV

I’d ditch it. I bought a 55” insignia 1080p for $300 last year. You can probably get a 4K for that price now.

You can get them only at Best Buy.

That’s nice Bill.

Samsung customer service on their electronics has always been great for me. You may let the service guy come out if they aren’t going to charge you.

I had a 6 year old Samsung 52” lcd that had a bad capacitor. Called Samsung and they sent a guy out the next day and he replaced the whole power board assembly at no charge.

With all this said, stay away from their refrigerators.

If the tariffs stick, TV's will be one of the things that go up. Buy one now if you need to do it.

Yes, chances are the cost to repair it will be as much if not more than a new one.

Yes, they are so smart as soon as the TV is turned on, they search all wireless networks they can see. If they find an unsecured wireless network (no password), they immediately connect to the Internet. Then they download and install software without asking. This function cannot be disabled. I wouldn't spend my money on a Samsung in the city. Out on a farm, different story.

Our Samsung refrigerator has been flawless but we had a Samsung washing machine that was the biggest piece of junk of an appliance that we've ever had. It crapped out 3 times in a year and a half. They were a total pain to work with, kept sending repair men that said it couldn't be fixed and Samsung knew it. Even though it was still under warranty they refused to replace it. Finally Lowe's stepped in and gave us another brand.

Same with an over the counter microwave for me.
