Next month is my son's 13th birthday.
I'd like to surprise him with his Marlin Model 60 being fitted with a scope.

I'd like some suggestions on a good but economical scope for his Model 60.
Budget is $100-$120 max.

It'll be used at the gun range and for small game hunting during daylight hours.

Thanks

I’m a big fan of the Nikon Prostaff 2-7 or 3-9 in that price range. It may run $10 more depending on where you shop.

I have a Nikon Rimfire on my 10/22. It's fixed 4x, I love it. Cost me $130 at Cabelas.

A little more than you want to spend, but this is a great option.

For a .22, I would get him a Simmons .22mag

I've had a couple Simmons 22 mags for 10 years or so, no complaints. They see duty mostly plinking at stuff, little range time and squirrel hunting. Recommended them to a buddy and the crosshairs on his broke within a couple months. If I was looking for a new, good scope would prob get the Nikon. If you're not worried about quality so much get the Simmons and spend the extra $70 on bulk 22.

I've had a Simmons scope die on me but it worked for a long time prior. I have a pair of their binocs and they work great for $30. You get what you pay for.

Nikon has some good options for rimfire. I have a 2-7 on my sons and it does good.

The two cheap scopes I own on 22lr's are a UTG 3-9x32 on a 10/22 and a BSA sweet 22 on a savage bolt. Both of these cheap scopes hold well enough for a 22lr. Between the 2, the UTG is far better.

I’ve had one for about 15 years. If it died on me tomorrow I wouldn’t be mad.

I have a Simmons on a 10/22. Looks like it's beaten to hell. Had it for at least 20 years. Glass isn't that great (understandably) but it still works like a champ. I also have a Simmons on a 44 mag that's taken a lot of abuse and still works great. My main go to brand is Leupold, but for cost effective optics - I'd look at Simmons or pay a little more to get a Nikon.

I have a Mueller scope on my Savage. Works great.

I have a Leupold 2-7x33 compact that I had the parallax adjusted to 50 yards and a fixed four power Nikon rim fire scope on .22's. Both are plenty good for the purpose. The Leupold is the better scope but it is also out of your price range. The Nikon is at the upper limit of your price range and I have no complaints for how it's used.

I just put a Simmons 22 mag on my 10-22 and it works just fine, and comes with rings.
