They are really on the move right now. Late April through May seems to be their mating season. And in case you didn't already know...they are excellent climbers. Not at all unusual in East Texas to see them WAY up in trees seeking out bird nests.

I opened the front door yesterday and luckily I stepped back and not forward..... A 2.5 to 3 foot rat snake fell from the ledge above the door..... Needless to say I screamed like a little girl and hollered for my snake tongs..... He made a speedy departure from the entry way to the front porch..... I almost made a mess in my flip flops.... So yes they are out and moving!!!!

I had a similar surprise yesterday when I went to my trailer, opened the door and all I saw was the back end of a snake slithering away, I knew it was non poisonous so I went and got the camera and found this little guy.

When I got out of the blind this morning I notice this guy when I went to shut the door.

Even if they are not poisonous, they can make you hurt yourself.

^^^^^^ Nope NOT the spider. I hate spiders. Snakes are fine, spiders give me the Heebie-Jeebies! Creepy devils.

I don't care if they eat insects. So do birds and lizards. Let's have more birds and lizards.

You would definitely know if you have been bitten by a brown recluse. They leave a nice calling card.

I think that may be a wolf spider.
