I'm going to have to spend the night in amarillo twice, once going and once coming.
Where is a good place to eat?

The Big Texan is at the top of my list when in Amarillo.

Agree with stay away from the big Texan. We have Denny’s and IHOPS everywhere already.

I’ll add one more that’s not on the list on the other thread. Hoffbrau steak house is there.... while not the best steak house in town, I like the place and they have candied bacon.... that by itself makes it worth the trip.

Unfortunately steak houses like Texas land and cattle, longhorn and...... just don’t have good steaks.... Hoffbrau does

The Big Texan is a cheesy tourist trap with okay steaks and I love every bit of it. I can see where locals would hate it, but I enjoy visiting every few years. As mentioned before Coyote Bluff and Blue Sky have fantastic burgers. Tylers BBQ is pretty legit and Tyler is a fantastic guy to talk to.

Coyote Bluff is good. I also like Green Chile Willies south of town off 27. A cfs with roasted hatch chiles is dynamite. They buy them buy the case, roast them and freeze them for the off season.

Just an FYI: Tyler's BBQ is top 50 in Texas but Spicy Mikes is better.

Yep. I lived in Amarillo for 3 years and The Big Texan is the biggest tourist trap in Texas and some of the worst steaks I have ever had. They used to make decent calf fries, but it has been 18+ years since I ate there.

Coyote Bluff is awesome for burgers and one of my top 2 burger joints in Texas, along with Herd's in Jacksboro.

The Plaza has some good Mexican food too.

Big Texans pretty good and always had fun when I ate there. But there is always a long wait. Blue sky has some pretty good burgers.

Ya gotta "do" the Big Texan. Tourist trap big time but just once you have to go. And the steaks aren't the best but they're okay. They used to have a stage for anyone trying the 3 lb steak.
