Today, we hiked to the highest point in Texas. The views and scenery are outstanding. Someone wasn’t enjoying it, though. Search and Rescue was all over the place looking for someone that had fallen down in a canyon.

We made a similar west Texas trip a few years ago with the boys. The view from the peak is well worth the walk

cheers

I’ve been out here working for a couple years, now. I figured I’d use down time to broaden my experiences.

I have been out that way several times and never took the opportunity to make it to the top. Think I will.

Great trip and the best views I’ve had in a while.

I went twice in 2017. The first time by myself and the second with a group after they saw the pictures. I just ran back through the pictures, that dent was not there September 2017 above the pony express. Great trip.

Actually bagged Arkansas’s high peak today. It’s a walk in the park compared to Guadeloupe. Only .4 Miles from the parking area. Talking about hitting Louisiana’s tomorrow on the way home since it’s not far out of the way and also a mild hike.

Don’t know if anyone is interested but there’s an internet group called peak baggers that hit the highest peaks in every state. You may want to check it out.

Well done. The one time we went, we started too late and had to head back before making it to the top. It's on our list to finally make it, but minor health set backs keep us postponing.

Beautiful. Climbed it with my 2 boys about 10 or 12 years ago while we were on a road trip during spring break.

I am mostly impressed that the post office was able to get that up there, my package from ebay yesterday came broke in half. Times are a changing. smile

The 4wd section west of it was pretty neat, takes you to the old homestead. Dog Canyon is a beautiful place too.

If one wanted to photograph the milky way, hiked up there during the day and then waited til dark, could he? Or is there a curfew?

You can camp out on top. You can also see the lights of El Paso.

You sure could. They even have a campground near the top. Near is a relative term, of course.
