Since we can’t buy points, can we lose them? Searched the TPWD and all I can find is if you are drawn your points are reset to 0.

But what if you miss a applying year for say antelope, do your points get erased?

Im climbing in points in some cool categories, but this fall Im looking at a really busy schedule and may not get to hunt if Im drawn. I’d hate to lose my points, but Id also hate to get drawn and not be able to hunt.

Can anyone point me in the direction of an answer?

Your points don't go away unless you are drawn.

Yeah I missed entering a few draws from previous years and those points are still there.

I was thinking of putting in for the draw this year myself- and still might. However after speaking to the TPWD the odds are not good. Last year 5532 applied and 12 permits were issued. That is @ .0002 % chance or 1 in @ 420 if my math is correct .

We all know those people who say "You can't win if you don't play". I kinda was one of those guys, but put in for the Guided Mason Mt. Scimitar hunt at 4000:2 permits anyway.

Most fun I ever had on a TPWD hunt, and got a nice 40" bull to boot!!

As I understand it...as long as you put in for SOMETHING in the Lottery Hunt system EVERY YEAR, all of your various category LP's are kept intact, but only the Categories you apply for accrues another LP each time.

I've got several PP/ LP's in categories that No Hunt is offered for anymore and even those LP's remain as they were listed when that Hunt was discontinued. FWIW I'd enter the Lottery every year from my grave if I could just so TPW would have to continue showing some of my double digit LP's that I'll never put in for again after going 20+ years of App's in some of them.

I wonder if that was 5532 people applied with some having extra drops in the hat due to loyalty points or if that was 5532 total drops in the hat from the pool of applicants. If it is 5532 people, your odds would be much worse than 1 in 420 depending on how many loyalty points each of those 5532 people have. For example I have 25 points in Gun Deer Either Sex.

I have wondered that myself.

BTW, 25 points for GDE is a ton of points. I hope you get drawn for a real good one this year!
