Thoughts on this one vs leupold vx5hd 3-15 x44.

For deer hunting and shooting hogs and coyotes to 500 yards

Thanks

I would go with the Leupold personally. I really, really like the VX-5 & 6 HD's.
Did you see the weight differences between Leupold and Zeiss?

I did, not concerned with the difference.

More on the turrets and dependability, I haven’t had the chance to compare side by side. I have used Leupolds warranty before and was pleased with the results. No experience with the Zeiss, but like the price of one I’m looking at.

My VX-6 with the CDS on my .300 WM functions exactly as I would expect it to even though it's not a tactical scope it tracks well.

I have not had any experience with the Zeiss. I have sold many of them and no one has called me back complaining about it, so I would say that they work too.

I have it, and like it a lot. Give Leupold good data, from good ammo (for me it's Hornady Superformance, 165 gr) and the CDS dial will be spot on. I've tested it and used it in the field with great results. On the VX-5HD, I shot it at 100, moved back to 300, used the dial and put them both in the same hole. I posted this a while back with pic's. On the VX-6 that also has a CDS dial, I stacked four coyotes, ranges from 170 out to about 400 and dialed all of them on the CDS, as they entered preranged target areas. I posted this hunt and the pic's two years ago. The glass is really, really good at dusk & dawn. I have killed a lot of stuff with these set ups, and used the CDS dial about 1/2 the time. For the price I think the VX5-HD you mention is a fantastic scope. Really clear and separates detail well, especially in low light. Like being able to see good detail of a rack in a tree line a couple of hundred yards out at dusk, on a buck that you can't see with the naked eye.

An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

I have the Zeiss Conquest V4 4-16x44, but not that exact Leupold. I have a Leupold VX3i 4.5-14x40 CDS. I really like them both, and both have dialed from 100-1,000 yards and back and both tracked perfectly. I've done it enough with both to trust them to be right where they should dialing anywhere on the scale. My primary regret with my Leupold is that I went with a 1" tube over the 30mm. I wish I would have gone the other way. I believe the Leupold you specified has the 30mm tube so that's a push. I think with these two it would come down to price and your preference on individual features. I can't imagine enough difference in quality, clarity, or light transmission between them to make a difference.
