Well some of you may have seen where I kept trying to find a guide for a fishing trip, more so for the wife. I booked with Fermin Fernandez out of Lake Buchanan for a 4 hr striper gala event.

With that my coworker had just been and what I "thought" she recommend was Fermin. So on Good Friday we venture out. 440 for the four of us then the RV park by the dam charged me 20 to enter their grounds.

Anyhow I was under the impression we would be fishing Lake Buchanan. We fished Inks Lake instead and never went to Lake Buc. We caught 2 small stripers and 4 other fish and that was fishing for 5 hours.

After I get back to work my coworker asks how it went as they had taken their limits on stripers and caught other fry fish as well. I told her it sucked. She was astounded and I showed her a pic of our guide. She was ummmmmmmmmmmmm no not him? Huh? turns out we should have used Boss Striper Guide services that fishes on Lake Buc.

Live and learn. Not bashing Fermin I just wish we could have fished Lake Buc as it seems it has the stripers or fish for that matter. I felt awful for my wife she loves to fish and I was hoping she would land a few monster stripers. Oh well,

I agree. Maybe a participation trophy but certainly not 1st place. Misunderstandings happen.

for what it's worth, there are some monster strippers in Inks, my FIL used to bank fish right below the dam (before 9/11) and hauled in some really good size strippers.

They are there but imo just not as plentiful as Lake Buch. Wife already has plans on us going to the State Park side of Inks and bank fishing. Love that part of the world though.

yep, Buchanan is pretty well known for having more fish ... but Inks when they are running the generators out of Buchanan, the fish go by the loads up towards the base of the dam. My FIL used to go to the really nice fishing area at the base of the dam several times a week when they were generating but I believe that whole area is closed off now following 9/11. I've never had much luck from the bank other than towards the south part of Inks lake state park in the shallows that come up near park road 4 ... used to be able to pull off the side of the road and walk 20-50 yards to those coves to fish, but think they have up barriers now?
