Next time they cross onto your land, herd them off your property - AWAY from his land. Not your problem anymore.
JR Unless they get on a road and someone hits one and gets hurt, then you have a BIG problem. I’d think the liability would still be on the owner of the livestock, no matter where they wander. Not true if he forces them off his property, well sorta not true. Cattle owner would be liable for not containing his cattle and East would be liable for forcing/herding them off his land and away from the cattle owners land.

I’d for sure offer to split the fence first
If that don’t work, there’s some good ideas listed that would probably get his attention...

Had the exact same scenario as stomps is describing with some horses in McKinney. The sheriff came out twice and gave them warnings. After that, he told me to call him when it happens again and they will put them in a trailer and haul them off. They had gotten into our property via a fence you could step over after I did some skid steer work on my side of the fence. They then were getting out on the road in front of my place which was a semi blind curve. The sheriffs never took it too serious until i told them they were on the road. The animal owner tried to blame the issue on me for clearing part of my own land....they also drank their own pee and told me they had imprinted on their horses so they were joined for life

Put up a two strand hot wire with t posts then call the sheriff to explain the situation. Call the neighbor next and tell him it's time to fence in his herd or be charged a grazing fee. Hot wire is easy and pretty cheap.

Was just asking about you sir. Welcome back! Hey Guys because it allows the cattle access to my tank.
Does he have water on his place? If not he is relying on your place for water for the cows. Putting cattle on a place without fences is irresponsible and if there is no water even more so. Sounds like FFR is going well, drop in more often. What if he doesn’t have water on his land? That’s irresponsible as well East, meet Gunther. If he has no water for his cows on his place I bet the owner of the cows would not like to hear what the Sherri tells him when that is discovered. If he is relying on the tank on East' place for cattle water then the price to charge him just went up considerably from just grazing price.

Leave your gate open, his cows wonder onto your property and wonder off out of your gate.
East not liable for anything, if you don't own cows you have no reason to keep a gate closed.
Actually the sheriff should handle it, now days seems several counties don't want to mess with livestock estray.

Put up a “COWS 4 SALE “. sign. Make sure neighbors see it.

Well guess he got the point, he just moved them to another adjacent pasture he has fenced in. Assuming he is just going to wait till I "put the fence up" then I am sure he will put them back. Cheap way out.
And he can bring in water troughs and fill with hose so they will have water then
Saying that, can anyone recommend a fencing company in wood county, east texas area that is reasonable. Before this ever happened my end goal anyways one day down the road is to fence the area in for goats to keep it cleaned up

Wood county isn't open range. I'd see if he wants to split the fence with you. You're going to love having goats Tank will take care of them or take care of them
