Do you guys consider whitetails without brow tines culls? Just curious as that’s the rule where I hunt.

If they have no brow tines once they're two, we cull them.

Same here. Only one or no brows = cull.

Most bucks in Eastland County where I hunt are 3 before they are legal under ARs so I wait until then but yes I will cull one at 3 with no brows for that reason. Waiting until then for legality reasons

If you choose not to cull those, don't be surprised when more and more start showing up. That's definitely an inheritable trait.

We do have quite a few that are browless. I like the rule as we have some nice bucks that don’t have them.

You mean like this one, no bros at 2.5 and about 13 inches. 17 inch inside no brow on one side at 3,5 and a short brow on the other side,

Definitely cull them if you are wanting to grow some quality deer

Cull them at 3.5 years old or older. But, not for any mythical genetic reason, you just want to remove deer that will never have the potential to develop into a quality deer. It is not possible to alter the genetics of a deer herd through selective harvest.

Statistically, if they have no brow tines at 3.5 I would cull them. However, there are always exceptions to the rule. This guy had no brown tines at 2.5 and tiny bumps at 3.5. I killed him at 4.5 and he scored 164. He still didn't have much for brown tines but he was a heck of a buck (my personal best). I guess my point is to look at more than the brown tines before making your decision.

We seem to see quite a few of them and try to shoot them. At first we shot all no brow 6+ point deer. I have started letting them walk if I think they are on their first set of antlers.

Didn’t see this guy much don’t really know or have a good idea how old he was, but he was plenty old enough to have more than what he did. He was over 160 lbs and my little boy said shoot him!

Depends on which property I’m hunting. Is there enough tags our ranch allocated culls to put a dent into missing brow deer and what age class are you seeing them in?

I’d take a short beamed short framed cull over no or limited brows.

We have a lot of bucks without brow tines in Dimmit County. I have probably taken 15 of them in the last 15 years. Cull them at 2.5 sometimes. At 3.5 if they don't have any brows at all, like this one below, they are green lighted.

PS - nice buck, Grizz!!!!
