Stub's thread got me to wondering. What are your favorite Mexican food restaurants? Mine are Mia's, Tupinamba and Tacoliscious in the DFW area.

Los Cabos in Brenham has the best chili relleno on the planet of earth. Their salsa verde is very good as well.

I’ve long been a fan of Chuy’s. But a few days ago, in Burnet, the wife and I had the chicken Enchiladas Verdes at Juane’s Restaurant. That was better than any we’ve had in recent memory.
I don’t know how The Best could even be chosen.
Rudy’s in NW Houston, off Jones Road, was always our favorite when we lived in Houston. And it was close enough to our house that we could have two big Margaritas and take a back street safely to the house.

I've only been in Chuy's once or twice. I couldn't hear anything anyone said at the table. When a place is that crowded and that loud, it's no fun for me.
In San Antonio, off IH10 on West Avenue is El Burrito del Tapatio. Clean and real. So real, you better speak a modicum of Spanish.

Beef Fajitas at La Hacienda Ranch are about my favorite. Chuys is pretty good too though.
You should have been here yesterday!

I like Herberts Taco Hut in San Marcos. It’s a hole in the wall that’s been there forever. I once met Joe Ely there one morning having breakfast, was back in the late ‘80s

El Paseo, Fort worth, Azle, mineral wells. Taking me back a long time. Have eaten at the one in MW several times. Similar to Pulidos in Stephenville.

The best texmex is Herraras Cafe. Below is a legendary pic of the original, it was on Maple in Dallas, burned down many years ago. Me and my buddies used to ride our 100cc bikes accross town to eat there in the 70s. Since it burden down, there have been other family members try to open another Herraras over the years, some had success some not. There is one downtown Dallas next to Omni, they try and put a modern spin on it, don’t go to that one. Go to the one on Sylvan Avenue, website below, they do their best to model themself after the original. You can also scroll down on the link and read about the history of the original. Be sure to have a frozen margarita. https://herrerascafe.net/

There are so many regional variations of most of the Mexican food, that it has become only a personal opinion of what is better than some other place. Then some people judge their good and bad Mexican food by the last taco they had a Taco Bueno. In my opinion, the farther west and south you go, the better the food, east and north just the opposite Then there are some people that think the hotter the peppers, the better the food, that's ignorance talking.
Who is right, who is wrong? Nobody, not even the person that swears by the Allsups burritos. It is just an opinion of what is better based on individual tastes.

Angie's on East 7th in Austin. Best hot sauce and corn tortillas I have ever had. And their enchiladas are always on spot.

The best mexican food places are the ones on that side of town you rarely go to because it feels sketchy. When you walk in, there is no english menu. Those are the best.

Locally I like Casa Torres in Decatur and El Paseo in Azle. The one in Mineral Wells is really good too just not as close. While on the road El Tiempo in Houston is probably my favorite all time.

Mine changed, because it seems as if Mexican joints are hit or miss. The two that seem to be good consistent are Casa Jacaranda in Venus, TX and Chepa's in Allen, TX
