I have been using the garmin delta sport with my 90 lb chessie. He responds to a 12 well when not distracted, but if there is something he is interested in, ie running up to the neighor, chasing something, etc he will not even react when the collar is set to 18, the highest level He is a 90 lb CBR so I 'm not sure if he just doesn't feel it or if it is Chessie hard headedness lol any suggestions for a collar with higher stim levels?

Sportdog has a S series which stands for stubborn, higher power options.

Chessie's are known to be stubborn but I would try a more advanced collar such as Dogtra or Garmin. Maybe borrow one until you decide if it will work or not.

you need a higher power product, like a garmin 550. I have one for sale, so if you're interested, PM me.

you also need to ensure the probes are tight against the neck. Especially with the hair on a chessi.

If your really having issues get the neck wet first the put the color on nice and snug. Trust me it works. I have a VERY tough lab!

tighten the collar and re test before purchasing. it should be uncomfortably tight for perfect contact. Once he gets the idea, back off of tightness

the Delta are a decent for the money, but do not have much range or power from a correction stand point.

+3 or 4 on tighten the collar. Also, does the Delta have replaceable probes? Longer probes might be in order.
I can't personally verify, but I read somewhere that the higher the collar is on the dog (closer to head) the stronger the zap.
Also, you probably know this. Don't get offended. But are you doing full power momentary or full power continuous? Big difference.

X2 on the 550. As already mentioned, if you don't have the long probes on your current collar, they may solve your problem.

The dogtra RT Edge is a hot ecollar, with up to a 2 mile range.
90% of the dogs I use it on never need higher than a 2.

THe 550 did the trick. Night and day difference, figured out that it was the longer contact points that he needed, which isn't an option with the old delta sport. He doesn't need much , right now he's between a level 3 and 4. Thanks for the collar recommendations.
